TTC first child after being on microgynon for many years

This is my first post and I'm therefore very new to all this! I've been on microgynon for about 10 years and my husband and I are are now trying for a baby. The gory detials... I took my last pill on 28th November and had my usual period a couple of days later. It's now a month later and I'm curious about when I'm likely to see my next period? I know 'everyone is different' but it's obviously a very exciting (and slightly nervous) time when you're trying to concieve. I understand that it can take my body quite some time to get back to noraml with a normal cycle but any opinon from someone in a similar positon or has been on the same pill would be very helpful.

Also, I've been 'bonking' my husband's brains out the last month and I'd like to know when I can start using the excuse of a headache once again! Ha Ha!

I was on microgynon for 10 years and got pregnant just after my withdrawal bleed (is that what it's called?). But I am extremely fertile, with DS2 I didn't even get a withdrawal bleed! grin

I was on the pill for 10 years and took my last one 10th November 2012, had "normal" withdrawal bleed on 14th November. I convinced myself throughout December that I was preggers and was symptom spotting like mad, and took 3 tests, all with BFN. I finally got AF on 26th December, so I had a 38 day cycle. I was happy in a way, as I can start working our what is normal for me. I was dreading AF being as bad as it was before the pill, but it was fine, heavy on the first day but fine the rest of the time, only lasted 4 days which is good.
It does start to take over your life, after AF arrived I have been trying not to obsess so much about I read the "trying to conceive" section of mumsnet!!

I was on microgynon for 9 years, and stopped on 28/7/12 just before my wedding. Got my first real period 6 weeks later on 9/9/12. Since that had AF again on 30/10/12 then on 30/11/12. Still waiting for the next one. Thought it was regulating after the last one but seems not. So frustrating! Almost impossible to predict ovulation. Am considering Angus castus to try and regulate things.

Hi, I have been TTC since sept.
This time I was on cerazette for two years. Previously been on microgynon and others - I've done the pill rounds over10 years or so!
Previously when I stopped I've either had AF straight away or within a month. This time it was 11 weeks! Cycle just finished was 32 days. Fingers crossed for regularity here on in.

Hi bundles, Just Wondering if you have had any developments on AF (my apologies if you have updated-I think I read all posts but maybe missed one...). I have a very similar story to you-came off pill (cilest) in Nov, then withdrawal bleed from 29th Nov and nothing since. I guess you could say I'm on 37 of cycle. Getting myself very excited but know I shouldn't. DH away and don't want to test without him. Will be back next week. Excited!
P.s quinoa is yummy!

Elektra83 Wed 02-Jan-13 17:07:28

It was, I ruptured it whilst skiing, will not be going skiing again!

Oh I am rubbish with cooking, my husband cooks and is so much better than me! Haha, when did you give up eating meat? Hubby eats meat, if I cook then he eats veggie stuff with me.

Ideally I'd like to keep it quiet, might end up telling my family! I remember when my bro and SIL were expecting and they told us with explicit instructions not to tell anyone until the 12 week scan, SIL's mum ended up telling everyone. My brother was not happy!

bundle4me Wed 02-Jan-13 16:16:52

Ouch - sounds painful!

Will do! I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to cooking! Whenever I try something new it usually end up in the bin, or the dogs bowl! I was better when I ate meat!

Yeah, it will be our first also. Will you not tell anyone until the 12 weeks scan? I'll have to tell my family straight away, I know there is no way I'll be able to keep it secret for that long! Obviously work colleagues etc can wait 12 weeks though! I don't want my boss advertising my job too soon! lol.

Elektra83 Wed 02-Jan-13 14:43:47

He's pretty cool! I can't do the running thing, I tried last year and was just so bored. I keep hearing it's great when you go outside but I can't - the impact is too much on my knee which ends up aching (ruptured my ACL a couple of years ago).

Oh nice! Let me know if you find any tasty recipes! I am clueless with recipes, especially if it is non Indian, I'm suddenly lost haha!

Yes definitely, I actually just wonder how I will manage to keep my mouth shut for 12 weeks! Yup, will be our first smile how about you?

bundle4me Wed 02-Jan-13 14:08:11

You're very fortunate having your own PT! I run a lot so I've just cut down the length and pace to keep my heart at a good rate and so I'm not jumping up and down too much!

I may give quinoa a go one day. I have three veggie cook books given to me for Christmas that I need to experiment with too!

It will be lovely when the day comes when someone asks if your pg and you can tell them yes! smile Is this your first?

Elektra83 Wed 02-Jan-13 12:49:22

Hahaha! If I ever said to my PT that I felt a bit nauseous his first question would be if I was pregnant and would then ask why wasn't I pregnant! He will be worse I ever tell him we are trying (was advised to let him know as they do different exercises taking this stuff into account!). I ideally want to lose some more weight before trying but I doubt it will happen haha!

Quinoa is lovely, the trick is to cook it in stock so that you get some flavour to it. It's nice with tofu in it and chilli sauce/cottage cheese on the side. yum! Quorn is a bit hit and miss I find, we use a lot of the mince and things that you can add flavour too. The other stuff is ok once in a while but otherwise it gets a bit samey.

It just made me laugh! I think if people keep asking/making comments then yeh I reckon it would be very annoying.

bundle4me Wed 02-Jan-13 12:39:16

Ohhh! No wonder why I didn't know what that meant! Ha ha! I got to the gym a fair bit but I'm going to take a bit easier now that we're ttc!

I've never tried quinoa. I've (unfortunately) trie quorn though! Two mouthfuls of it anyway, the rest was given to my dog! Yuk!!!!

Isn't it horrible when everyone assumes straight away that you're pg as soon as you say something like that?! I used to find it quite annoying before but now that we're ttc I think I'd find it even more irritating!

Elektra83 Wed 02-Jan-13 12:24:44

Hi bundle

PT in my message above was for Personal Trainer! His diet was just brilliant, I tweaked it a little but it worked so well, I'm actually looking forward to going back on it!

I now get protein from tofu, nuts, seeds, quinoa (which is so nice!), pulses too.

I just said to my sister that I feel nauseous and tired...her response was to ask if I was pregnant...lovely!

bundle4me Wed 02-Jan-13 12:15:20

Hi Elektra

Sorry to sound so thick but what does PT stand for? I've googled it and I've got 'prayer/positive thoughts'?! Sorry, still trying to get to grips with all the abbreviations! I'm a veggie too but think when I fall I'll just have to bulk up a little extra on nuts and fruit to get my protein!

Elektra83 Wed 02-Jan-13 11:21:41

Hey bundle

I think mine may have seen the webpage open but he hasn't said anything and I haven't expressly told him - for the same reason, he might think I'm a little obsessed haha!

My PT put me on a diet a few months before my wedding and I might go back on that - hopefully will lose a bit of weight and the less carbs in it will help me generally! It's more protein based (I'm veggie so it's hard to get protein!) so the plan is to start that again on Monday, the drinking is definitely going to be cut down too as it doesn't seem to agree with me at the moment!

I ordered pregnancy tests from amazon yesterday...eek! smile

bundle4me Wed 02-Jan-13 10:54:54

Hi girls, Happy New Year!

Riskit, I'm going to change my name to CustardCream so I fit in better smile

Do your other halves/husbands' know that you're on mum's net? I haven't told mine, I think he'll worry that I'm getting too obsessive about ttc! Which sadly, I think is becoming the case! Have you girls changed your diet yet whilst ttc? I haven't done with mine but now after the festive period I think I will cut out drinking as much... Well, that's the plan anyway!

Furry, four days late for me know - providing I have the normal 28 days cycle which I doubt is the case after being on the pill for so long! Wish AF would bloody hurry up (excuse the pun, that's really made me laugh, ha ha!) At least then I'll know what my cycle is! Hope your AF isn't too bad when it gets here! (Or 'if' it gets here!) smile

I've ordered some of the ovulatoin and pregnancy sticks from ebay.... oh and some lube, lol! Happy peeing on sticks, girls! smile

riskit4abiskit Tue 01-Jan-13 22:39:15

Oops happy new year to bundle et al also!, didn't mean to leave you out

riskit4abiskit Tue 01-Jan-13 22:38:06

Happy New year biscuiters and Elektra!

Have been feeling rather dizzy, faint sincei last posted and was feeling hopeful.... Until dh told me all about his dizzy spell at work! Drat you winter viruses!

Hope everyone is looking forward to a New year and POSSIBLY a new life?!

Elektra83 Mon 31-Dec-12 20:26:59

Hehehe! I

Fingers crossed for us all! I definitely am not looking forward to the pain, will just have to remember to be nice to hubby when AF comes around!

Oh good plan, today is my last day on the wine told. Yup very scary, although my theory /hope is that I lose weight whilst pregnant - only on the basis that I can't eat soft cheese!

Very scary though!

Furrybiscuit Mon 31-Dec-12 20:02:11

Think positive teehee! For a positive test...I'm easily amused!

Aww that sounds awful, hopefully u won't have to suffer too many of them before you get to test out your mum's theory!

Just had my last ciggie, been on and off them all year but and recently just when having a drink/evening/weekend/any other excuse I could come up with! Now have finished a pack and won't be buying anymore, might as well start the new year right! Eeeeek it's scary isn't it?

Elektra83 Mon 31-Dec-12 19:35:41

Keep your fingers crossed and think positive!

Oh yes, it was basically my periods from my teenage years all over again. I was moody, weepy, hungry all the time! Oh and the pain was horrible, the pill was a god send as AF was light and relatively pain free!

My mum kept telling me that having babies would help with the period pain apparently I am ready to find out if she's right! Eek!

Furrybiscuit Mon 31-Dec-12 18:53:10

Ty Elektra but just kidding myself, I know it can happen but would just be far too lucky if it was first month.

Were u the same (emotional wreck) the whole time before when u had the 7 month break? Must be hard going! Haha at the cheating and oops, whats the worst that could happen...

Elektra83 Mon 31-Dec-12 18:38:47

Fingers crossed for you furrybiscuit!

I was an emotional wreck in my 7 day break but nothing as bad as when I'm off the pill, that is just horrible, sadly I'm actually looking forward to it as it means we can try properly once I have had AF! Although have cheated a couple of times since coming off of the pill. Oops blush

Furrybiscuit Mon 31-Dec-12 17:46:09

Hi bundle

Don't mind u asking at all but who knows when it's due! I had my normal withdrawal bleed when I stopped but as I've been on it so long I'm not sure what my normal cycle is/was before I was on it! If it was to be 28 days, would be due around 5th Jan. was talking to my mum and she said she remembers when I took a break before my period came back pretty quickly so here's hoping smile (back then i wasnt ttc so paid no attention!)also bought a couple of sticks to pee on, just in case teehee. Has sore boobs and cramping for last few days so could be good news, could be AF!

Elektra funny you should say that, I'm now seeing I was more of an emotional wreck on the pill-have felt great the past few weeks! Strange what hormones can do to U isn't it?

Lots of us have biscuit names hehe smile

Elektra83 Mon 31-Dec-12 15:49:58

Haha cheers bundle - I was completely freaked out yesterday, spent the weekend with hubby's family and surrounded by two very loud and very active kept thinking would I be able to cope with kids of my own. *head explodes*

The last time I had a break from the pill, I was reminded why I loved the pill - I was an emotional wreck who was in a world of pain!

bundle4me Mon 31-Dec-12 15:32:58

Pinkmoonlight, good luck! I hope the AF's aren't too bad and you don't actually have many of them until the BFP! smile I'm dreading when/if mine comes in case its going to be an almighty, painful one!

Go for it Elektra, I'm sure your hubby isn't complaining! Ha ha! Nice to know I'm not the only one freaking out inside! smile
