How long did it take you to conceive after removing the Merina Coil?

I am having my Mirena removed on Friday so DH and I will be TTC
DC2.

I've heard horror storys where the coil buggers up periods for months on end and then conception miracles which happened within the week of removal.

Please share your personal thoughts so I can gain a general concencus.
My periods use to be like clockwork so I'm interested to see what will happen.

Don't about Mirena, but when I stopped taking the contraceptive injection my periods did not start again for over a year. I was 34/35 and had been on it for 4 years give or take. My periods had stopped completely when I was on them. I have a Mirena now and my periods have also stopped. However prior to pfb I had contraceptive implant and fell pregnant within a couple of months after having them removed, but that was at the end of their lifespan.

Depo is completely different, it stays in your system a lot longer. (Having said that, I had it for a year or so, stopped it when I split up with partner, and it took months for my cycles to start again. In my next relationship I missed one of my depo jabs by about a week and got pregnant then.)

My mirena has recently fallen out. I'm a bit in limbo for the next few weeks waiting to find out if I am pregnant or not. I too have been googling lots of stories about how long it would take and experiences and first periods etc. I gathered that there is no general consensus! I had a withdrawal bleed a few days after but it was very light and only lasted a day and isn't counted as a period apparently. No one knows if you continue to ovulate whilst on Mirena or not so it's impossible to tell on an individual basis how long it could take. Good luck ttc.

Had mirena for 4 yrs due to heavy irregular periods (literally 4-5 per yr), whilst the coil was in it made my periods much lighter and suddenly every 28 days like clockwork.

When it got taken out I thought things would go back to how they were before the coil but apart from my periods getting a little bit heavier, nothing else changed - my cycle stayed regular.

We left it a month because apparently there's a higher risk of mc in the month the coil's taken out but then we conceived on our 3rd month of ttc. Am now 25 wks pregnant and all is good.

Hope that helps...
