On second month of digital monitor, desperately TTC no. 2. Last month I ov'd on day 19 then AF arrived on day 30. This month I am currently on day 27 and no sign of the circle!

Can anyone help me out with understanding what is going on here? My last 2 or 3 cycles have been 29/30 days in length. I just don't know what's going on here :-(

You won't always ovulate every cycle, it is completely normal to have occasional cycles like this.

It is also possible that you have ovulated, but something was off in your charting so you did not spot the rise. If you are ill, have a late night, drink a bit too much one vending, all can affect your temperature. Also, if you are not strict about taking your temp at the same time every day, within 20 mins or so, you will not get a true result.

Thanks for your response. This whole process is enough to drive anyone round the bend. It's actually a POAS type monitor. I've done everything I'm meant to - it asks for a test within a time slot. I don't suppose you know what happens re AF if I just fail to ovulate at all?

Hi, like Frankel says, non ovulatory cycles are fairly common. If this is the case, your AF will be more or less normal, the hormones will drop and cause a bleed exactly like if you had ovulated.

TTC is hard and frustrating! Could I suggest temperature charting? It is very easy to do, and the website //www.fertilityfriend.com is a free resource you can chart your temperatures on. It will even do the difficult bits for you and show when you may have ov-ed based on your temperatures. All you would need to get started is a Basal Body Temperature thermometer which you can get off Amazon for about a fiver. The book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" is also brilliant and can be picked up fairly cheaply on Amazon.

I am using a CBFM and also doing temp charting, please feel free to PM me if there is anything I can do to help!

Thanks, that's really helpful. I've always been put off by the sound of the temp charting as thought it'd be complicated and faffy. But if a thermometer is only a fiver it's worth a go. Conceiving ds1 just happened so quickly and easily, I foolishly thought it'd be the same again. Hmm. Onwards and upwards. Grin

Hi, not sure if it will help but I read a post on another site from a natural fertility expert about how to tell when you are fertile. I found it very interesting it describes all your bodies signs that point to ovulation, it may be worth a read, it may put your mind at rest? I will put link to the post at the end of message. Hope this helps, I know it can be very confusing, I was using a sperm donor so I know how accurate things need to be!! Good luck xxxx forum.prideangel.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=537

Well that's interesting. Today was day 28, not 27 as I'd thought and the monitor went down to low fertility again. Really don't understand what's gone on but I guess it's just one of those things.

I have read a little about fertility signs but find the cm bit confusing as I seem to have that on and off throughout the second half of my cycle? Will def have a look at that website. Thank you!

Can't really help but I had a an annovulatory cycle recently - finally got AF on day 46!!! obviously hope you don't have to wait that long. Things were back to normal the following month though.

I would not put money on any monitor having a 100% chance of predicting ovulation though. I recently read about a woman who has had her pg scan and she now knows for a fact that she conceived before she got a smiley on her fertility monitor.
