Thanks in advance for reading!
I had very painful periods when a teenager and basically ended up on the pill for about 15 years. I came off 3 years ago (I'm now 34) - to prepare for ttc and also because I think it affected my sex drove.
Yes the pains came back but tbh were ok with regular double doses of ibuprofen.
I have now been ttc for just over a year withouth succes. Whereas my periods are more regular than they once were, they seem to be getting more painful. I suspect I may have had 2-3 CPs over this time because period was a bit late, got a very faint imaginary line on a pee stick and had a particularly bad period soon after, with a lot of very dark, clotty blood (not usual).
Whether I've been having CPs or not my periods are now, most months but not every time, excrutiatingly painful for the first 2-3 days. I have just surfaced after being almost confined to the bedroom since friday evening. Regular doses of ibuprofen and paracetamol help, as does hot water bottle, but it's still terrible. I even have to set my alarm to take extra painkillers pre-emptively in the middle of the night because I have often in the past been woken up with excrutiating pain in the middle of the night and the painkillers just take too long to work.
Anyone else experience(d) this and have any words of wisdom? GP in the past has unhelpfully suggested either painkillers or going back on the pill - clearly the latter is not an option at the moment.
And anyone think there is a link with unsuccessful ttc and very bad periods? I have thought possibly endometriosis but two docs have dismissed this.
