Hi girls,

I was just hoping for some opinions, particularly if you have been in a similar position. Basically I have been in my current stressful, long hours, horrible in sensitive boss job for 5 years. DH and I started TTC in June and I had a mc in August and no luck since. Out of the blue I have been offered a fab job working in a sector I would be passionate about, new challenge, 5 mins from home and what appeared to be a lovely setting and supportive team. It really could be the perfect job for the long term.

However I don't know what to do about TTC? We're thinking of putting it on hold so I get statutory mat pay as a min (6 mths wait). I'm
Just scared time is ticking on...32 nxt spring and this will be our first. What would/have you done in this situation? I want to balance my life choices with doing well in a new job so I have it for the future but its a hard decision!!

Sorry about your MC in August.

I would go for the job - less stress & feeling better in yourself is bound to help with TTC.

You have to have been employed for 26 weeks by the time you are 26 weeks pregnant to qualify for SMP, so you wouldn't necessarily need to wait for 6 months before TTC in order to get SMP, you just need to have started your job before you get pg. Also, you don't know how long it will take to conceive - it may happen straight away, it may take a bit longer.

Good luck>

I agree with Ellypoo, that job sounds brilliant and you would be a fool to turn it down. Maybe don't exactly wait for a couple of months but stop trying if that makes sense.
As Elly said, you don't know how long it will take.
We decided to start trying even though I didn't have a permanent job and it has taken 18 months so far. If I had waited we would only have started trying in September and I wouldn't have been nearly as far down the line of help from doctors etc as I am now.

Thanks Elly & Pip. Elly that is interesting I thought you couldnt be pg at all for that 26 weeks so that helps. It might be that if I start in Jan then we wait until March/April before starting just to make sure. But Pip that is what I am worried about as I although I got pg quickly it didnt end well and now we are almost 6 months down the line with no bump. I really think this new opportunity would be a great chance for me to chill out and hopefully get pg more easily.

We have just decided to 'stop TTC' but I got the smiley on the stick today and we last DTD on Thus. If I catch it this month I dont know where that will leave us!! I would feel bad taking a job pg and not disclosing it but cant imagine they will give it to me if I am!
