clear blue tests

my period is a week late now and on Sunday (5 days late) I did a Clear Blue test (the one where it makes a cross if you are pregnant) That was negative, kept looking at the test for about an hour or 2 afterwords (yes am obsessed) and still neg. Threw it out, had a good cry and carried on. Period still didn't come and this morning I did another test - still negative but a couple of hours later the cross came up as pregnant. I actually fished the old one out of the bin (eee) and it's reading a cross too. The instructions with the pack tell you to ignore anything after 10 mintues of doing the test - so I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this result and has really been pregnant? Am worried because I may possible have the bloodclotting thingy and have not been taking any baby aspirin. I don't think it would be an evapration line as it's a different line from the original....can't get excited am just really really worried and scared. Will see gp tomorrow for a blood test I think, don't want to waste any more money on these things.

think it is an evaporation line - have looked at them again and it's not a symmetrical cross. Wish I wasn't this sado obsessed person. oops

Hana

Its horrible not knowing whether you are or aren't, isn't it?

A couple of months ago I had a 52 day cycle and, being so late, thought I was PG. Spent the bast part of £40 on tests. AF came in the end.

My advice would be to see your GP as you say, to find out one way or another. Fingers crossed for you!

Hi Hana. Of course you are going to be obsessed, that is perfectly understandable. Go to your gp tomorrow for another test and advice about the aspirin. Hope it's good news for you, wouldnt that be a fantastic way to start 2004. Bunnyxxx

Hana, So sorry you're having a tough time with this. I can only say the same. Go to your Doc for a quantified blood test and some advice about the aspirin. I just read your post on the m/c thread about your raised levels. I read in the Lesley Regan book that once diagnosed 90% of women with Anti wotsit syndrome will be successful using aspirin/heparin. So if you are not pg now you have a great chance at a sucessful pgcy next time. I am thinking of you and hope you will have good news this year. xxxxxx

Hana - Why don't you try another brand? I got a positive really early with the Boots own..... which is also cheaper. I too fished it out of the bin half an hour after I got a negative and was convinced there was a faint line, tried another the next night and there was definitely a faint line.

Go see your GP, but if they are anything like my GP's you will be waiting over a week for an appointment!!

Hope you get some really good news.

PS: I didn't think I was obsessed until I started doing pg tests AFTER I knew I was pregnant just to see the blue line appear!

Hana I so understand what you say is "obsession", what i like to call "want"!! (when it isn't me!). i normally have 28 days cycle and very regular, as soon as i started ttc my afs when completely haywire- so frustrating as you want it to be predictable and controllable. best of luck, and if it's not your month this month i'm sure it will be soon x

Hana

Hope your trip to the doctors was successful! Please let us know how you got on.

With ds2, I didn't test positive until one week after my period was due so you never know.

I've just 're-checked' a two hour old clear blue test - negative at the time but the horizontal line was and is very pale - now there is a vertical line - faint and extremely thin - not quite at the symetrical point for the cross. AF due today but tested in the middle of the day. It's a stupid place to have an evaporation line if that's what it is, but I'll be trying again at first wee tomorrow if no bleeding before then.

Hana - you are not obsessed!!! Each time I have been pregnant I have spent a fortune on clear blue kits (should have had them deliver direct to my front door!). Going by own personal experience, leave it a few days before you try again. Easier said than done I know.

Before I had a positive I still kept doing the tests knowing that I would get a neg but I still had to do them - if that makes sense! Although I sort of knew that I was pregnant it took a couple of weeks after my due date before I got a positive and it was only a faint one at that!

Don't ever use the digital clear blue kits as I wasted so much on them as the sigital reader kept going defective!

When I had my negs, I also checked a hour or two later just to be sure!

I also agree with madgirl, in that its not really an obsession, you are just hoping and praying that you are pregnant.

My GP also gave me some of the stick things that you dip in your urine so that saved me a small fortune!

Norfolk, I loved the new digital kit. Thought it was great and you get 3 test sticks so does work out good value. It's grt to see the word 'Pregnant' appear rather than a line that is hard to read in the early stages.
Hana, how are you?? Let us know how it's going.xxx

The only reason I was put off is that I tried a digital kit, it came up pregnant twice. I was so excited, I rushed around to the GP's who did 2/3 of those stick tests and they were all neg. I got so upset and had a little cry on the spot! Came on next day as well. I tried another after my period and as soon as I put the stick in, the reader broke! Doh!!

I agree that they are better value than the normal ones, but in the end I stuck with them anway!

thanks for all the replies - sadly AF started on Saturday so I have my answer. Won't buy the clearblue ones again. It's amazing how much hope you can have despite knowing that it's such a slim slim chance. And how it made me feel so giddy at the thought that I might maybe maybe be pregnant again. It's agonizing going through all this isn't it? And I hate the will I be won't I be each month. Bugger.

Hana, further tests proved negative and then got AF Sautrday evening - so I guess this isn't to be our month. Best of luck to you with this months attempts - all the practice is certainly putting a sparkle in DHs eye

getting sick of practicing over here, I mean that I want to do it lots in the hopes that I'll become pregnant, not always because I just want to. Never ever wanted it to get to this
sorry ginnie - maybe next time eh?
