Transvaginal internal scan-does anyone know?

I have one of these next week, but AF is due the following day. I just wondered if they would be able to see if I was pregnant on it? I wasn't sure if it would be too early, it would 15 dpo. And if I did happen to be pregnant is it safe?

Thanks for any replies! :)

I had one a few yrs ago and found out I was pregnant 1 wk later , I must have been 3 weeks pregnant but they didn't say anything, I was looking at my ovaries on the screen etc! Sure it'll b fine, u could always ask when you go in x

I don't think they'd be able to see. I had OHSS so had a scan at 9 dpo to see if I needed to be admitted. They couldn't see that I was pregnant. The scan was safe, but we had another just after 6 weeks which was the earliest they reckoned to see anything.

i think it really depends what they are looking for...i would say probably not if you are in the early stages...every one i have had done they are looking at my ovaries and nothing else. I would just say when u go can u tell if i'm pregnant and see what they say x

I has one and the letter said that they are safe to do if you're pregnant.

Yes they are safe during pregnancy - I had several up to about 12 weeks with all my pregnancies. At 12 weeks my consultsnt switches to abfominal scan.

They won't be able to see much of interest until 6 weeks ish. They won't be able to tell if you're pregnant until about 5 weeks - they csn see a black space where the baby will grow. Earlier on they can tell you which ovary is ovulating or has just ovulated.

Oh at 5 weeks if they can tell where the baby is going to be they can't make any forecast on viability as no hb visible then. They can possibly rule out ectopic. But in your case they won't see anything - too early.

I think the earliest you can see anything (embryo wise) is around 5 or so weeks (so about 2 weeks after your af was due). I had one at 5w+5d and all they saw was a gestational sac and yolk, couple weeks later nearer to 8 weeks they saw a heartbeat. Good luck and don't be disheartened if you can't see anything on the screen you could still be pg! Keep up updated.
