Anyone else waiting to TTC?

There was a thread here a while back but I seem to have lost it.

DH and I have decided to start trying in Jan, but I am now getting very impatient! We're going on hols in Dec to sonewhere it would be pretty hideous to be suffering with early pregnancy symptoms, so it makes perfect sense to wait, but it's driving me mad!

It's not so long ago that I was in two minds about getting started and holding on for as long as possible hmm

Anyone in the same/similar boat?

LadyEmmaHamilton Sun 16-Sep-12 09:18:17

Just me then smile

Emmylu Sun 16-Sep-12 20:57:07

Hiya! Not just you! My DH and I have decided to start trying in Dec as I'm going to Uganda in October and didn't want to have pregnancy symptoms over there! Feels like so long away ATM. Will this be your first child?

cartoonface Sun 16-Sep-12 21:29:28

Hey. I'm trying to wait till dec/jan so I won't be too pregnant on my wedding day in may! Does seem a long way off doesn' t it

BoyMeetsWorld Sun 16-Sep-12 21:38:09

Me too! Feels like we've been waiting aaaaages for the 'right time'. Now it's coming up v soon - Nov is D-day smile got to get coil removed, off all medications, vitamin'd up etc but just want to start now! & driving myself mad thinking what if it doesn't happen quickly.... X

We are also waiting until next April

Too long. Sigh.

I want to start ASAP however DH is a bit apprehensive. He has a job interview on Mon so it depends a bit on that.

We both want children. I have an appt on 5th Nov to get my coil out however, we both agree it may be better to get Xmas over with first.

So, confused and excited. I have been taking folic acid and ca plus D3 for weeks although perhaps still room for improvement with diet and exercise. Another reason to wait!

The problem is I see babies and pregnant women everywhere. I was not a child lover. More of a cat lover. I can only assume some strange biological hormone has kicked in which has turned my world upside down!!!

Yes Emmylu it will be our first. I got really stroppy with DH yesterday because the cleaning of the spare room (will be the nursery) for replastering, decorating etc was not going fast enough. He was also been a general arse, so didn't back down, but I feel a bit silly afterwards blush

Boymeetsworld (I remember that!) I am also wondering about that. I'd like a few months break from all the decorating etc and just to live a normal life (and DH wants to keep practising as long as possible grin but I keep thinking what if it doesn't happen?

And Luisa is right about the hormones. Where did they come from all of a sudden?!

Emmylu Mon 17-Sep-12 22:05:06

LadyEmma I think lots of men feel similar. My Dh is 'on board' with the idea of TTC but doesn't have that biological 'need' that I feel, so he doesn't have the same sense of urgency! We have started taking conception vits as that feels like the closest thing to doing something about it! Although, I do have to remind him to take his every night!!

Luisa, the hormones seem to have always been there for me!!!

LadyEmmaHamilton Tue 18-Sep-12 08:00:54

Emmylu I think you're right. We have talked about it end how I go, bug I think he'd be really surprised if he knew how strong the feeling is. Heck, it's surprised me! For me its not about cooing over friends babies or feeling jealous when they get pregnant like it us for some reason, its this intense need for the schedule in my head to worm out - house done, last of the exotic holidays done, get pregnant. I've always been more practical than emotional about these things, so that's just my version of broody.

I take it thus is your first as well? Exciting, but terrifying, isn't it?!

BoyMeetsWorld Tue 18-Sep-12 18:59:07

Coil is out! Now just the wait until all meds are out of system & cycle returned to normal... sigh

LadyEmmaHamilton Tue 18-Sep-12 19:47:51

Hurrah! It's a step in the right direction at least.

Here have some wine while you still can smile

LadyEmmaHamilton Tue 18-Sep-12 22:26:44

Just explained to DH why I got so ratty at the weekend about the shift tin timetable and I think he was a bit surprised. He instantly changed the subject and wandered off into the next room. That's usually a sign that he's feeling very uncomfortable grin

Purplemonster Wed 19-Sep-12 13:29:03

11 more days to wait for me, not that I'm counting grin

MTBMummy Wed 19-Sep-12 14:03:56

Hi Purple - 11 days here too, kind of nervous to be honest smile

BoyMeetsWorld Wed 19-Sep-12 16:25:48

Hi mirai well I was concerned about this having read various things claiming trying too early after Mirena can cause MC. Asked doc at removal - he said wait till period returns (however light) then good to go wink

BoyMeetsWorld Wed 19-Sep-12 16:26:45

Oh & for meds not sure...I'm going for 3 months to be safe but started a while back thankfully!!

Purplemonster Wed 19-Sep-12 16:36:17

Me too MTBMummy! Gone from impatient to excited to actually quite scared now. Daft.

LadyEmmaHamilton Wed 19-Sep-12 19:33:28

Have any of you started any special regimes in preparation for TTC? Other than the usual come off the pill/stop other forms of contraception.

Thundercatz Wed 19-Sep-12 21:18:57

Hi all can I join? We are waiting to start in Jan and (at least I am) getting very excited. Dh less so but is on board but I guess it's more abstract to him and more scary. Ultimately there never seems to be quite the right time for finances etc and partly we're just nervous but I think we have to bite the bullet as I cant think of anything worse than a life without kids ever. I think I'll be scared/nervous come Jan but lets see!! Defo v interested in all things pregnancy related at the mo!

Thundercatz Wed 19-Sep-12 21:23:11

LadyEm i came off the pill 10 months ago and only now starting to regulate! Other than that just taking folic, eating well and exercising...was actually very exciting just buying folic acid and getting cracking on it! Feels like I'm doing something ...! smile

LadyEmmaHamilton Wed 19-Sep-12 21:55:36

Hi Thundercatz.

So now we've got:

LadyEmma, Thundercatz and Luisa (possibly) starting Jan 2013, Emmylu starting in December PurpleMonster and MTBMummy starting in 11 days and poor Orange waiting until 2014! Oh, and Boy starting... sometime soon.

Thundercatz in interested to hear that you are already taking folic acid. My GP said not to bother, but I can see that the thought that you are taking positive steps is very attractive!

BoyMeetsWorld Wed 19-Sep-12 22:05:04

I'll go for 11 days too I think (subject to change :p)

Off to get some folic this weekend. Oh, and 'conception lube' lol. The glamorous world of PreTTC blush

Thundercatz Wed 19-Sep-12 22:16:40

Yep I think the folic is about being pro-active as there is not much else I can do yet and am the impatient sort! Actually one other thing I did yesterday was pick up some conceive plus too Boy - "just in case it got to jan and I was caught short!" what are the chances?! blush

have any of you guys told anyone in the real world about your intended start date/month (other than gp)? We haven't as don't know how long it might take and don't want the pressure (however well intended)
