Coming off depo - what's the best thing to do?

I've been on depo for 6 months, so had 2 injections. My GP assured me it was the same as the pill, which I'd been on before, but better because I wouldn't get a period Hmm. I bled pretty much daily and have now realised it can seriously mess with your fertility. To say I am pissed off with my GP is an understatement but that's another thread.

Anyway we have a gorgeous 7mo DS and want to start trying for no2 in the next 6-12 months. Question is, am I better just letting the last injection lapse and hoping my cycles sort themselves out, or should I go back onto the pill to try and regulate them? Am so worried I might have mucked things up as I'd never have had the bloody injection if I'd fully realised the implications.

I'd say come off and go onto the pill. Just in case you hit the jackpot straight away, like some people do!

My GP said it was a sensible thing to do in February when I said I wanted to TTC in October. Which I then brought forwards!

I came off the depo injection and went straight on cerazette, it took 15 months before the depo injection came out of my system (I had been on it longer than 6 months though) only to realise that the cerazette wasn't working for me and my cycle was completely screwed. Personally I wouldn't go on the pill, i'd use other means of contraceptive, as you could be masking the fact your cycle is not going back to normal

Personally I would just let it out of your system, it was 18 months after my last jab that I got pregnant and my gp said that was normal.

Yeah I'm worried it could mask things. Tbh not worst thing in world if I did fall pg straight away so maybe I should lay off the hormones...! Thanks
