I have been on Cerazette for the last two months, before that I was on the contraceptive injection but came off it after piling on weight. I'm in the week of my cycle where I don't take the pill and would expect a bleed, but nothing. Same last month. Is this normal or should I start looking for a pregnancy test?

Hi, i was on the pill for 9 years then came off, and had a coil fitted, and i didn't have a proper period for a good 14 months, even though on the pill it was very regular and consistant almost to the hour :-) I think that our bodies need a while to get accustomed. I would go speak to your GP, or google it perhaps.

With Cerazette there shouldn't be a 'week of my cycle where I don't take the pill'. It should be taken every day without a break. Have you had days where you haven't taken it? If so, you should do a pregnancy test. It is common for women to have no periods/irregular periods with Cerazette but you should make sure you aren't pregnant if you haven't been taking it every day.

Agree with pp, I have just looked up the inofrmation leaflet and it says take for 28 days continuously then start next packet. There is no week off.

However, I know that the injection can mess up your fertility so there is a slim chance that that may explain your lack of periods, or you could be pregnant. The only way to know is to POAS.

Have you tested? What's the situation?

(Ok I'm really sorry, but --> :o :o :o ) Yes, there's no break on Cerazette!

It took 6 weeks for me to bleed after coming off it, so I wouldn't have expected a period during a week's "break" anyway - but I would certainly do a pregnancy test since you know you've not been taking it correctly.

Thank you for your sympathy fluffy!

No I haven't poas yet, ds is asleep on me and won't be shifting for a while. I'm really not sure whether to buy a test today (as DS hates going shopping and its raining) or just get one when I go shopping without DS at the weekend and put my head in the sand and pretend this isn't happening

I would say the chances are low as I'm still breast feeding and knackered so the nooky isn't exactly frequent, but I fell pregnant at six months in the same type of situation, although I had a very early miscarriage.

Sorry you're in this situation. I'd test ASAP as you may want to avoid continuing the pill if you are pregnant.
Best of luck.

What do you think you'd do if it's positive?

Report
WitchOfEndor · 26/04/2012 12:06

When I last had a positive (DS was 6mo and not sleeping through) I had a test at the doctors just before they were due to fit a mirena. Watching the nurses back stiffen as she did two separate tests made my heart sink. I ended up in tears with the doctor and nurse (and DS) just looking at each other!

I wouldn't be so dramatic this time but I have spent the last year and a half thinking I don't have the time, energy or money for another child. Before the miscarriage (and despite the hysterics) we did intend to keep the baby as I can't imagine aborting a baby whilst I'm in a relationship and there are no health grounds to do so. Really didn't plan for this though and was just about to speak to DH about the snip (as I am obviously unreliable!)

I'm sorry. I hope you can work through this and come round to seeing it as a good thing. Are you going to stop the pill and start the folic acid?
You will find time and energy from somewhere. Money can be resolved, post here about specifics. Be kind to yourself x

Thanks Stealth chances are I'm not pregnant and I'm just worrying over nothing.

I will poas though and come back and update once I've removed my head from the sand

Yes, I think I need to have a chat with DH about the snip as I am obviously a contraceptive doofus
