Hi everyone.
After some handy tips and coping strategies really.
My hubby and I have been TTC for 10 months ( I know its not long) and i've been having problems with my periods. They are all over the shop and have been for the whole time of trying. They are anything from 6.5 weeks to 9.5 weeks apart and very painful. Went to the docs last week and he recommended blood test and pelvic scan. Had the blood test and get results tomorrow. Still waiting on the scan. We have sex every other day and pretty much stick to that throughout the month as my periods are so irratic we feel its our best chance.

I'm feeling a bit upset and worried about the results and the scan as I desperately want my own baby. Hubby has 2 kids who are wonderful (most of the time!) and we all get on well. They are 11 & 9 now. I just want my own!! Hubby doesn't quite understand how difficult it is sometimes when I'm facing potential problems and he already has a family. I know he wants more kids with me, but he just doesn't get it.

Anyone been in something similar? What can I expect at the scan?

Thanks

I think a lot of men don't understand how hard TTC can be for their wife, even if neither have children already.

10 months isn't long in the grand scheme of things, but it took me 10 cycles to conceive this time, and it felt long.

It's great that you are having tests to check everything out.

There are some great threads (eg TTC for 10 months) for people who just want the company of others taking a while.

Best of luck :)

I've had two pelvic scans. Is fine, similar to what you will get when you are pregnant. On both occasions I was also offered (and took) the internal scan which is far more intrusive - looks like a vibrator and they shove it inside you, but it doesn't hurt. This is an option as it gives a different angle, but shouldn't be compulsory in most cases. First time I had it it was all a bit unsatisfactory - they said my ovaries appeared "enlarged" but neither they nor the GP later could say if that was good/bad or if it pointed to anything. 2nd time a lot more positive, took loads of measurements and confirmed that everything appeared well, and there were follicles there which suggested I was about to ovulate.
Almost wish they had found something which then we could work on fixing, but no such luck. Best of luck with yours, unless everything is hunky dory do push for answers as to what stuff means. Remember it won't tell you if there is anything wrong with your tubes - that is a whole other test which I haven't had.
We have been TTC 6 months so I feel your pain.

We have been ttc for a year now, and its been so difficult coping with the disappointment over the last few months. Dh cannot wait to have children but is in the mind set that it will happen when it's meant to and I need to stop stressing. I can't help thinking that something could be wrong, I managed to persuade him that we should at least start investigations, these things can take a long time and is rather get the ball rolling. So I am booked in for my blood test in two weeks time-i at least now feel like I'm doing something.

Like christelle above says I sort of hope they can identify why we haven't gotten pregnant yet from the blood tests and we can get it sorted. Nothing anyone can say will make you feel any better, but you are not alone in your longing to be a mummy. There is always someone to talk to on this site :)

Hello all,

Similar situation here too really. Came off the pill last September and periods all over the place since. Just started charting temp to try and keep track of things. I suspect pcos due to period chaos and other issues too including bad skin. I went to the dr who said as im not overweight i don't have pcos, but i told him i still could have it, so he did some bloods, more just to shut me up i think! But they came back showing some abnormality in my FSH/LH ratio. Wanted to say i told you so, but i would have prefered him to be right! I've since been waiting for a scan, waited 7 weeks but it's tomorrow. The letter states it will be external, but if needed they will ask if they can move onto an internal one. My main concern is having to drink a litre of water an hour before the appointment and not being able to wee! I have vision's now of the clinic running late and all these ladies with their legs crossed in the waiting room!

MissLarue - hope you get ure scan appointment soon.

xx
