Hello. I am also at the GRI. I have no experience of other clinics but everyone is very nice and friendly there. The only downside I would say is that you sometimes have to push a bit for info and they don't explain the why that much, but that may be about not wanting to overload you.

Hi, I'm north of the border too. Been ttc no 2 for almost three years now and have been seen at the RAH. Not referred onto GRI as no IVF on the NHS if you already have a child and we are currently in limbo really trying to decide whether or not to go for IVF which would be a huge financial stretch or be happy with what we have.

welcome to you all :)

ive been at rah as well, just got told yesterday that im being refered to gri as they cant do any more for us at rah...so now i guess its a waiting game!!
shamrock - thats rubbish! i know what you mean about money though...we would love to go private and not have to wait for goodness knows how long..but there is no way we could afford it :( ...
the waiting lists seem to be soooo long here compared to england... maybe we should move south!!Grin

I'm in Ayrshire and awaiting a tartan baby! We've just gone down the route of asking for help. (Been trying for over 18 months) Got blood taken at the GP on Monday and booked in for a smear (tmi!) and day 21 bloods. OH has to do his sample but he's working away for a week. Not sure how long the referral takes before you get an appointment.

The dr was really nice that referred us. She took some pressure off and said the tests would give us peace of mind. At least we would be able to pinpoint the issue and deal with it.

Guid luck tae us aw and hope the bairns and weans come soon! X

blondel the referal process was pretty quick from gp to consultant anout 6-8 weeks..then we were started on treatment immediately..unfortunelty the treatement we have had is not doing its job!! so another referal, this time to gri, and from what ive heard a 2 year waiting list :( .....

ME Smile but haven't gone down the official route yet so will be no help with that.

That's pretty quick at 6 - 8 weeks. Hopefully that gives time to get all the tests done and analysed before we go. (Plus another 1 - 2 times trying.)

They must be totally oversubscribed at gri though. It's little wonder that people do what they can to go private if they have to wait so long. :( I wonder if it is a true waiting list i.e. you join the end of the queue or if they prioritise cases with certain circumstances? I'd like to think we don't have the same postcode lottery issues as south of the border. They seem to have it worse and have to travel huge distances from what you read on here.

as far as i know girls, the 18-24month waiting lists are a true reflection, depending on what type of treatment you are having! :( rubbish i know, and i dont think there is any queue jumping from what ive been told, its just a waiting game...... and i think cos they get referalls from all over the west of scotland it can be a bit of a postcode lottery depending on what health board you are being refered from and how many go's they are willing to give you!!!

anyone heard of or had ovarian drilling???? its been suggested to me but id never heard of it!

hope ur all doing ok :)

Well our tests have came back all clear and we're waiting to hear from the hospital. At least we know that the issue is one we've been dealing with all along (OH has delayed ejaculation- tmi!) I'm hoping for some proper support for him and perhaps IUI. Not sure if they'll do that for us but we'll need to see when we get an appointment.

One positive is that the referral has made us relax and actually enjoy things again instead of always focussing on ttc Grin! It's made me realise how much pressure I've put on myself and our relationship (and potentially making the issue worse!) This last month I've focussed on losing some weight (10.5lbs so far), getting fit and generally taking care of myself.

Hope everyone is okay! Smile x
