So I think I just got my BFP !!!! Yaaaay !!! After ttc for 6 months DH and I are over the moon . However , I work in a high risk job and I am supposed to tell my boss as soon as I find out so that my risk assessment can be change . Can't get a gp appointment until next week so I'm just going with an eBay cheapie 5 days before af is due so don't really feel like I should be informing them on the basis of a 50p test !!! Do I just go to work today and tomorrow as normal ?

I was working in a cancer research lab when I got my BFP and informed the safety officer and my immediate supervisor right away. Didn't bother with a GP appointment, news of the pregnancy test was good enough for everybody.

As for the risk assessment, it boiled down to me avoiding toxic/teratogenic chemicals, avoiding touching doorhandles and washing my hands very very frequently. All stuff you could do on your own for the time being really. I was a bit nervous about how DS would turn out being incubated in such an environment but he's 8.5 mo now and seems perfectly fine.

Massive congratulations on your BFP Thanks

Thank you Cerys wow so glad you had a healthy dc I can see why you were worried !!

I work in a stressful environment with high risk of violence . Also it's only a risk so I'm thinking I could just avoid it until I can tell them I feel bad telling them before my family know !! It's only two days until I am off for the weekend anyway.

I will have that dilemma if I ever get my bfp and here they would move me into a back office job so EVERYONE would know straight away. Let us know what you decide and how it pans out. And congratulations!

Congratulations mrsC!! I recognise you from other threads (was of the Polar Express one?)

I got a BFP last night too after 6 months!! Trying not to get to excited though and go stay calm but so hard not to!

I don't know when to tell my work either as am a teacher and I have a feeling my lessons will be crap for the next 8 weeks if I'm not feeling good. Blush

So exciting though congrats GrinGrin

Hi winkly that's exactly my fear everyone figuring it out !!

Hi whyso !!! yeah I was never off the polar express haha but had to have a talk with myself after that and calm down a bit !!! Aw wow we both got ours at the same time that's brill !!!

I think you would get away only telling your head maybe ?? That way he/she knows but the whole school doesn't know . It's different in my work to I would need to tell the whole management team plus if I get moved out my team the whole place will know why cos there been two other preggos in the last year .

What test did you use whyso ? have you been to your gp yet ?

I used a FRER last night - was about 12dpo I think but my usual spotting hadn't started so I'd begun to think maybe.... Was pretty dark. Carried the test around the house with me for a bit like it was my actual baby and then started to get paranoid that it was a false positive so did another FReR. Another nice dark line. Couldn't sleep last night as I was in such a daze. When I got up this morning I did a clear blue digital which said 'pregnant 2-3 weeks'.

Going to the docs today at 2:40 - not sure what they do though? I want them to check my progesterone levels because in scared that the reason I spotted was because of low progesterone and of that's that case may not support a pregnancy.

It's all very tentative isn't it at this stage, but fingers crossed for us both!

Have you worked out when youd be due? I did the nhs due date calculator and it said 10th nov. aaaaaaages away!!

oh no way i did it to too and it said 8th nov !!!!!!!:)

i did an ebay cheapie this morning with fmu and it was so faint but dh could see it too so i didnt imagine it !!!! Grin then i did another one about 5 mins ago its lighter obviously diluted urine but its still there. i feel like i want to buy an expensive test because i am only 10dpo and af isnt due until monday. but that is counting my longest cycle so going by my shortest cycle i could be 13dpo and af due tomorrow. its all to random and confusing and scary i am scared to believe it in case its not true!!!

in saying that i was 5 weeks when i tested with dd and the line was sooooo faint then as well so i think i just take ages to produce hcg !!

In terrified of having a chemical pregnancy and af actually common over the weekend or something. I suppose you just have to take every day as it comes dont you.

What symptoms have you been having. I've just been tired really but have been getting period pains which scares me slightly. Have read its just the uterus stretching and normal but can't stop going to the loo to check af hasn't appeared

Hello ladies,

I'm new-ish to mumsnet - found this thread interesting as I got my BFP last night, 6 months after a MMC - very pleased but nervous too.

Congrats Toots!

Right well we just need to get last the next week and then I'd say we're definitely pregnant. I went to the docs today. I kind of felt like I was a bit of a fraud as Im only really 13dpo. I also went and bought 'what to expect when your expecting'. I then had to have a bit of a word with myself about getting carried away because who knows what will happen. I've bought a load of cheap tests from superdrug. I have to stop myself from testing every time I go to the toilet but i want to test each morning to keep checking it's still there.

Thank you whyso and MrsC!

I'm 11 dpo today. I tested at 9dpo on an IC and saw a very very very faint second line so wasn't totally convinced. Then tested again on an IC at 10dpo and got a slightly darker second line but my husband said to crack open the first response test to be sure... the second line came up within 30 seconds!

(I already knew at the weekend that I probably was pregnant because I had really light pink CM on saturday and sunday - 6 and 7dpo - and thought it couldn't be anything other than implantation bleeding... then when it went back to creamy the next day I was pretty sure!)

haha whyso im the same i am going to the dr in about an hour and im afraid he will say to me to get out ive not even missed my period yet hahaha !! but then to be fair i could have my cycles are a bit all over the place so if i was on a 30 day cycle this month af would be due today. yeah MrsC just keep tellling yourself that !!! :)

POAS again this morning line still there lol !! had a few crampy niggles last night so trying not to get too paranoid !! ive decided i will ask the dr this morning whether or not to tell my boss if he thinks its ok to tell at this stage i will just tell when i get to work.

i was thinking about getting a first response as well toots but decided just to wait and see the dr as ive wasted so much money on them and CM digis over the last 6 months !!!Blush
