Anyone else had a pregnancy of unknown location?

I recently had a miscarriage after ivf. My hcg levels are not dropping away and a scan today couldn't locate the leftover pregnancy tissue, so they've designated it a pregnancy of unknown location.

Has anyone else experienced this and did it resolve itself naturally? Plus did you experience an awful lot of pain? As I have been very very sore.

The doctor is leaning towards an injection of Methotrexate, which sounds a bit fierce and I am wary. So would like to know if anyone has had this and gone on to a successful pregnancy.

Have you tried posting on the miscarriage/pregnancy loss forum? There might be someone who knows more about this, or has been in a similar situation. Good luck.

I have twice had this, but both times false alarms, it was slow growing pregnancies that eventually were found within a few days in the uterus. Women with a tilted uterus often have scans that show 2 weeks behind, and more difficult to locate initially. However, if it is an ectopic pregnancy then it should not be treated lightly. Regular scans and hcg measures are necessary to ensure that a tube is not lost in the case of an ectopic.

As the pp said, there will be more people to help on the miscarriage/pregnancy loss thread.
