Hi - this is my first post so hopefully Im in the right place and apols for long post! My period was due around new years eve and still hasn't arrived....I did a HPT on 11/1 and another on Tuesday (17/1) both negative but still no sign of AF.

DH and I are not actually TTC but did 'risk it for a biscuit' around 2/1 as I thought I was already late (and also we were still full of Christmas cheer!).

As we are not TTC, Im not 100% sure of cycle - I came off the pill last May and they have been regular since then (well within 28-34 days) but I can't quite remember when December's was exactly (last one I know an actual date for was 4/10). Ive never been this late/missed before.

Im out for a birthday tomorrow night so was thinking of doing a final HPT tomorrow morning just to be sure before I drink but then assuming AF is not going to show up and waiting to see if next one does before going to the doctor - does this sound like an ok plan? Must admit to not knowing an awful lot about cycles etc up until this weeks crash course of Googling!

Fingers crossed for you! Hopefully it is just a late BFP.

I would go to the doctor now regarding the missed period. Why wait a cycle? Chances are, in case you get referred to do a scan etc, you'll have to wait for a few weeks anyway (on the NHS).

Good luck!

I'm currently pregnant and conceived in September. I remember I missed my period and was about 3weeks late, went docs for a pregnancy test and it's was negative went back about 4days later as I was feeling very unwell and test came back positive!
So it's possible you are Grin

Thanks for replies, and congrats on pregnancy Katsuma!

I'll definately do one in the morning then just to see, then perhaps try doctors next week if still no sign of either AF or BFP! Oh and try not to get ahead of myself in the meantime and choose baby names!

Just wanted to say, make sure you do a test in the morning because that's when you'll have more pregnancy hormone in your urine. Good luck Smile

Im in the same boat as you... Im 12 days late. Never been more than 3 days late, long cycle of 33days anyway so it feels like forever ago that i had my af!
Not trying, always use condoms so Im assuming Im just late but Im not stressed or doing extreme exercise so not too sure what's going on!
Let me know how you get on... Will be interesting to see!

Morning all - well another BFN this morning (first test I had done in the morning though as have so little idea about all this I'd done the others at night/afternoon so thanks for that Rubysmommy!)

Managed to speak to the nurse before surgery this morning and she said that it just sometimes happens and to book an appointment if next AF doesn't rock up early Feb then they will do tests. She did ask my age so assume if I was over 35 (I'm 31) they might have sprung into action quicker...

Like daniwalkes though not been particularly stressed etc so all very strange. Would be good to hear what happens with you!

Anyway does mean I can have a couple of G&Ts tonight and try not to get stressed about it. Has clarified that we definitely want to start TTC soon though so fingers crossed for AF showing up at some point!

Apaarently once you are so far along you can get a false neg as something called the "hook effect" occurs and the HCG saturates the testing compound

Do you have any other symptoms? Nausea, sore boobs, sensitive nips, excess discharge, peeing for britain etc

Nothing else really...felt a bit sick last night but then had only had a bacon sandwich and some haribo for tea (working late) so think that might explain that! No other symptoms though or anything else weird...

I would only be a couple of weeks so assume not far enough on for 'hook effect'??
