Hello all, After a year and a half of tests, I have finally been prescribed Clomid 100g daily over day 2-6. (I haven't been ovulating) This is my first month of taking and am being monitored by the hospital by regular vaginal scans. I now have 2 13mm follicles with eggs! on day 11. I have to have another scan on day 15 to see if I need a hcg injection. Has anyone succeeded on clomid? Or are going through similar to me? Would love to hear from you.

Hi brookesr I'm just about to take my first dose At 100mg tonight. Have been on 50mg for the last two months, ov'd first month but very late and then didn't the second. So am really hoping 100mg does the trick, have been finding it all a bit stressful. Like you I'll be monitored via scans. Will you also have a 7 DPO progesterone test?

Were you put straight up to 100 without trying 50 first? That's unusual, I think. If you don't mind me asking, do you know why you don't Ov? I don't have PCOS; problem seems to be that although the follicles develop perfectly for some reason they don't actually 'pop'. I even had the trigger shot on the second month but no joy.

Two 13mm at day 11 is fab, sounds really promising. Lots of, ahem, quality time with your OH the next few days is in order!

hi highlove

they put me straight on 100mg, I don't know why. Do you think it could be age related? As I am now 39, I also had an Amh test that gives you an idea of egg reserve. My result was 1.95-that is very low. I have had scans twice a week since the 1st clomid tablet, it's annoying, but at least I'm being monitored correctly. They found no reason for my not ovulating. They probably will do the progesterone test, I've ad that before and te result was low at 21. My husband is petrified of twins and since he's heard the 2 eggs, e as gone into panic mode!
Don't know what that means anyway. Would 2eggs be released. X

My consultant mentioned something about AMH guiding drug levels,so I suspect your AMH is the reason you have gone straight on to 100mg.

Two eggs might be released but it doesn't mean that two would be fertilised (and even if they were it is very common for one not to make it past the first few weeks - people who have early scans know about this but many reach their 12 weeks scan and find one foetus and that is all they ever know about).

Thank you euro chick it's all a very stressful experience, got another scan tomorrow, they may decide to give me an injection then x

Thank you

Sorry to hear about your day 12 scan. They could up your dose of clomid? What is metaformin?

I went for the scan yesterday for them to say I was ovulating, although it hasn't shown up on the test sticks! I have another scan next Tuesday. This is all becoming very time consuming and tiring, but hopefully will be worth it.

Good luck to you all.

x

Well, have nearly got over my first month on 100g clomid. Had another scan yesterday, showed 2 follicles had burst, and my endometrium is good at 9.7mm (whatever that means?) Got a consultant/clinic visit to discuss all my results again next Friday. Good luck everyone x

I am 18 wks pregnant with my clomid baby. Was on 50mg Clomid which (only monitored for 1 month) indicated I was ovulating. Nothing doing, so was about to start IVF after 9 months with no success. They only kept me on clomid cos it gave me a cycle. So the month before we were due to start IVF I doubled my dose to 100mg - I figured double or quits! And bingo! Month 10 and a BFP.

Good luck, it can be a long journey!

Sorry to hear that. I haven't taken Clomid but did seek fertility treatment at the age of 38 so feel your pain. How long have you been ttc? If you've been having tests for 18 months I guess the answer is 'for far too long'!

It makes me cross to think that it's taken 18 months to get to the stage where the doctors are prescribing you Clomid. How many months of Clomid are they prescribing and what is the plan after that, if it doesn't work? I don't want to be depressing, far from it, but if I were you I'd be wanting to have a plan of what the future held in terms of fertility treatment. Are you being treated on the NHS? I went to see my GP at 38, told him I'd been trying for 6 months, and at our first appointment at Guys was told that because of my age we were being referred straight for IVF. Daunting yes, but it felt like positive and direct action. (Btw, twins aren't all that bad, you know... Wink)

Been back to see my consultant today and he has just upped my dose to 100mg after 2mths of 50mg but still no settled cycle. I have a 6yr old and have now been at this ttc malarky for 5yrs. This is my second time on clomid, first time round was after my miscarriage in 2010 and I just don't think I was in a very good place and it was unsuccessful. Cried on my consultant today, he must think I am a loon, just feel like it has been such a long, tiring, emotional process-hope to see some results soon as not sure how long I can keep my spirits lifted for. Good luck ladies.

Hi ladies

I have been ttc for about 4 years! Didn't really feel desperate the first 2 years as I already have a 9 year old (conceived Naturally). Although must admit I do feel desperate now! I never really pressured by doctor into doing any tests, just when I was there over a chest infection in August 2010, I mentioned to him that I was trying for a baby over the last few years, and he done various blood tests for approx 4 months, before he transferred by care to Mayday Hospital Fertility Units. I had to wait a few months there for an appointment! Then they had to do the same blood tests as my doctor! A semen test, an HSG, a month of cycle monitoring (internal scans) ETC. All that took about 9 months to do, then you wait for a consultant appointment for all the results, and to discuss what they are going to do next. Hence nearly 18 months of tests and waiting! - I suppose these things take time to collate together. Clomid they prescribed me for 2 months! I have just started my 2nd packet of clomid, and I have a consultant appointment booked for this Friday for all the results of the last internal scans that they did on me while taking the 1st packet of clomid.! I will ask them then what sort of plan we have - more clomid - IUI - IVF etc. Good luck to you all.

Chloe55

it is very tiring, and the clomid side effects say you can get emotional very quickly. According to the internet and doctors, clomid is meant to be a miracle drug, so do not give up hope. I am not yet!

Good luck xx

Had my consultant visit. They have given me 4 month supply of clomid 100g (6 months in total treatment) They have said that ivf would not work as I have a low A M H of 1.95, and clomid is my only option. Clomid only has a 10% chance of working! |And after the 6 months if it hasnt worked, then they said my husband and I will just have to come to terms with it ! Depressed

Skyper, oh no ! Sorry to hear that. If you don't mind me asking, what is your full story of fertility? 150mg clomid is a lot to take, so will surely work for you. Have you had a AMH test done? - testing of ovarian reserve? will keep my fingers crossed for you xxx

brookesr... yay..youve ovulated!!! you need a progesterone of 30 or so to ovulate! so you have!
my story is that my husband and i have been trying for three years seriously..(although ive not used any contraception for over ten years), pcos diagnosed about 5years ago.
Seen by dr's and recommended the clomid route (hubbys swimmers are fine!) , so started late last year on 50mg of clomid... also had to take provera as i dont get af very often! d21 & 28 bloods showed a progesterone level of 2 :( ....
so for this next cycle i had to wait until day 42 then take the provera, wait nearly 2 weeks for it to work then take 100mg of clomid, and my d21 & 28 bloods showed a progesterone of 1....... so it would appear that clomid and i are not getting along!! and its so frustrating as the cycles are not 4 weeks, they are soemtimes over 2 months long.....
never been offered a test of ovarian reserve?? should i have been???
x

Hi Skyper

Yes I ovulated ! But that seems to be tainted with the fact the consultant has said I only have a 10 % chance of pregnancey (don't know why only 10 %). When we had cycle monitoring for a month,(on the NHS) the doctor said she thinks I have a low ovarian reserve as I was only producing 2 or 3 antral follicles that held eggs every month. She suggested because of my age (39) we could pay for this new test £45 called AMH - Anti mullerin hormone. That would let us know how much time/eggs we have more accurately. Doctor said a lot of stars are having this fertility test to see how long they have left before they have children. My result came back at 1.95 that she said was low so I wouldn't have much time left! I have since looked through the internet, and while that is very low, a lot of women have got pregnant with even lower test results! So was it worth me having it done? I don't know ! x

I was told there could be so many reasons why you dont ovulate. Could be any kind of slight hormone imbalance, that with the right tests and medication can work to make you ovulate.Mine is clomid, so even with a very low ovarian reserve, it still makes you ovulate. I had the test, as it was offered to me, although after many internal scans the doctor already had a rough idea and prepared me for the result. In hindsight, I think I would rather of put my head in the sand and not known ! As the clomid is making me ovulate, all the test result has done has made me depressed! Good luck, im sure a baby will come your way xxx
