Ovulation Testing - got myself in a right muddle

Hello everyone,

Just wondering if someone could help me with a question

I've started using ovulation tests for the first time this month - the Clearblue digital ones

I have only had two periods since DS was born (9 mths ago) - this since I cut down breastfeeding to 7am/7pm, as we're keen to conceive DC2.

Pre-baby, my cycle was 28 days without fail.

The last cycle I had was 29/30 days, so I started testing on day 10 (counting day 1 as the first day of my last period) and got a positive smiley face that day. Was quite surprised.
Days 11-13 tested negative, and then today, day 14, tested positive again.

Has this happened to anyone else, and what does it mean?

Have had sex only once in the last week, on day 9 - so I'm wondering whether it was possible to have conceived.... would get things going again this weekend except DH is away :(

Is this month lost, or can I hold out hope for that day 10 positive.... can you get a false positive on an ovulation test?

Thanks

Not really sure what that means...I came on to say that ov sticks can also detect pregnancy, but I'm not sure if anything could be detected so early! Maybe you happened to ovulate twice this month? Good luck!

Hi, I think it may be possible that with still breast feeding your hormones might still be a little unsettled and the two positive tests may be down to your body attempting to ovulate on say 10, not achieving ovulation and then attempting a few days later. Maybe suggested either lots of regular sex so you've got all bases covered throughout the month, or using other methods to determine whether you've ovulated, such as monitoring your cervical mucus or charting your waking temperature. Best of luck, and hope you get your BFP soon
