Am I pg, about to have period, or do I just have the flu??

I posted this on the family planning forum bit didn't get a response so wondered if this might be a better place for it.

I had dd by c-section and she was exclusively bf until weaning. I still bf her 4/5 times a day and haven't had a period yet.

Anyway today I suddenly started feeling very sick just before lunch and by the time I had driven home I was shaking like a leaf, pins and needles up to my elbows, having period-pain type cramps, feeling faint and wretching like I was going to puke. Also woke up with very achy shoulders and neck and thought I had just slept strangely but now my limbs are very achy too.

Before I had dd I was on the pill since age 15 for terrible period pains (similar symptoms as today) which I had hoped would disappear post birth.

At first I thought I was maybe pregnant as I have been very mucusy down there the last three days (sorry too much info!) But I wonder if it's actually my periods about to restart or just flu or something?

Has anyone else had extreme period pains post birth? Not sure whether to bother with a pg test...

It would probably be worth doing a test just to rule pregnancy out if nothing else!

sorry you are feeling so unwell, maybe it is low blood sugar? i get sick/shaky/pins and needles if i dont eat regularly and it comes on v v quikly but as soon as ive eaten im ok again.

Hi there. I'd say this is a good forum for your question.
How old is DD? I'd say the best thing to do is test. With your symptoms, it could be any of those things.
Take some paracetamol to keep yourself comfortable. Let us know how you get on.

Dd is only 9mo! Ooh I really do want another LO but I really hope this is just flu :) Not quite ready to be pg again just yet!

Please go to a doctor just in case you have an ectopic pregnancy, or something else that should be checked. Achy shoulders and neck sounds a bit worrying combined with other symptoms. (I'm not a medical expert, btw)

I had loads of pg tests when we were trying for dd but I can't find them anywhere! Will go and get one in the morning. Feel much better by the way but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to just test anyway given the symptoms.

Really glad to hear you're feeling better. My money is on a virus but testing tomorrow would be wise :)
