How common are evap lines?

Hello there,

I'm 35, been trying for 8 months and just been referred for tests and things. Day 26 of cycle today, my average is 27 days. Had some spotting 2 days ago which stopped, this has happened the last 4 months then have got period few days later. So I was thinking that this was just happening again.

Did a cheapy stick dip test this morning at about 11:30 though, dunno why just felt the need to. The test appeared negative and I went out for lunch.

Just came back and went to chuck it, and there is an oh so faint line. I wasn't looking for it, just saw the line as it was going in the bin. My husband can also see it, but describes it more as just a slightly darker white.

I'm thinking this is an evap line. How common are they on the cheapy tests? I know they instruct you not to read them after 30 mins and this was a good 2 hours. I'm wondering if anyone has experience of this, feel like I'm going slightly loopy!

They are much more common on the cheapy tests and you absolutely must disregard the test after ten minutes. I wasn't sure about a line on a cheapy when I was testing last week, so I dipped one in a glass of orange squash to compare my result with one that was definitely negative. The non-pregnant beverage managed to produce a line exactly like you describe.

Ah, thought as much, thanks for replying. Period due tomorrow and am correspondingly spotty so I guess we are out this month.

If the line is coloured you are probably pregnant. If you have to shine a light on it and squint at it through a window you may not be. I got a bfp with a faint line that didn't really appear for 3 minutes but it was definitely pink even though it was faint. if you wait 2 days you will have your answer. Good luck!

Different concentration of pee? Really, I'd wait till your period is due, and not waste more tests for a couple of days if you are getting negatives on cb.

To update, did another test first thing and negative. Period due today and feeling pretty crampy. Really want it to hurry up as I'm booked for an ultrasound on the 18th so I need to have stopped bleeding by then or will have to wait for another appointment.

This sucks.
