Right, this month it'll be a year since I went off the pill and haven't had a period yet. FFS! Wish I'd never even gone on it in the first place. Angry
Just wanted a bit of a rant

I'm with you on this! 2 periods in 7 months and the doctors just tell me to be patient. Patient?! I've been waiting for this for YEARS, and when me and DH finally decide we're ready to start trying, this happens!! Why does no one warn you?! I'm telling all my friends "Come off the pill years in advance, and just use condoms!" It's so so frustrating. Never ever going back on sodding pill

Don't care and knitting, anything over 6 months should be investigated.
It has defintiely taken me a while to get a normal period back (started off very light indeed), 6 months in just about getting there. I too wish I had come ofthe pill years ago.

I'm glad its not just me! I'm having the same problem. I'm so annoyed no one told me (us!) that this could happen. Been 2 months now. Am now newly annoyed after reading this so will make an appointment to see someone anyway. I heard somewhere else there's something they can give you to kick start things again?

No its not just you, its was the worst thing i ever did! Came off it approx 6 months ago, had 2 'bleeds' since, very light, not what i would call periods. Im completely peed off!!!
In agony with my boobs this month, cramping constantly, got so bad yesterday i spent the morning in tears til my male boss came over and told me to go home cos he felt so sorry for me, went drs and she just said it was hormonal, so basically got to put up with it, im soo tired and completely exhausted!

On a better note, spoke to a different dr about a month ago who has told me to come back first week of sept and have blood tests for anything and everything and see what the problem is, so thats quite good.
was hoping i would just fall pregnant within a few months of coming off the pill and doesnt help that since ive been trying more than 25 friends have got pregnant :(

good luck to everyone, please let me know how you get on :)
sorry for the moan! i needed it!!!!

What pill were you on? I'm on Cilest and still bleed every month...am trying to convince DH that we would like DC3 and am now worried that it will take extra long after reading this! Were you taking a pill that meant you didn't bleed every month?

1sttimetryer · 04/08/2011 06:29

Hi us dont know about everyone else, i was on microgynon, yes i would bleed every month. were you on the pill before having DC1 and DC2? if you didnt have any problems after coming off it to have them you might be ok but it seems like for some people, the pill stays in the system far to long and causes problems.

Ah, obviously it can cause problems even if u have had children before no problem. I definately wont be going on it ever again. Sounds like your going through the same as me going. I go for tests in Sept but mum told me last night it is normal for her cycles to be every 6-7 weeks so i could be the same, doesnt explain why i am now on day 58 with neg test and no period though!!!

I wasn't on anything before DC1, then took the pill for 15 months before coming off to ttc DC2 which only took 1 month Shock and been on it again for the last 5 years...

Will def be talking to DH about this!

Good luck to you ladies who are actively ttc - hope it will happen for you soon! :)

I have avoided the lot buggerlugs !!!! All their announcements came within about a 6 week period!!!!! was hell for me, im not good seeing newborn babies or pregnant women!! have only just started holiding my best friends baby as i couldnt face it, she completely understood, hes 7months now. there was 6 babies in the doctors yesterday, all only a couple of months old. hate the jealous feeling i get as im not a jealous person, but i just cant help it, after waiting 5years to start ttc and then another 6 or so months since starting.

i know 6 months isnt long, its not 6 months that i have the problem with, its the fact in that time i have had 2 AF's, if i was having AF's regularly i wouldnt mind waiting, its the unknown i dont like, not knowing if im ovulating, or if there are any other problems.
Positive attitude is the best way to be, sometimes it seems hard though. Im dreading AF coming in some way because it means i have to wait another 8weeks+ for the next one!

Hi

I was on cerazette for 5 years, before coming off in March. I remember coming off it for 6 months at one point years ago and having no periods, so this time I had a google and decided to take evening primrose oil (I'm 99% sure that's what it was - I've chucked it now, but it was next to the pregnancy vitamins in boots) and this time around my periods got back to normal within 3 months.

Might be worth a go, for £3?!

nothing to do with stopping the pill. 6-12 months of no periods can be normal (frustrating if TTC but normal) see GP if worried but no way this is the fault of the pill

Hey everyone, I've just posted a long ranty thing kind of on this topic here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/1275050-Cheapy-OV-tests-going-begging
I know it's prob not you want to hear, but it seems the bloody doctors may be right, just got a BFP after coming off Marvelonl in Jan and only having 2/3 bleeds since. I am still furious that no one offers any real advice BEFORE you go on the pill, and then are completely uninterested when you come off and everything's in a muddle. But, for me at least, it seems everything was working fine, it was just taking its sweet time. I know this is more annoying than it is comforting, so sorry, but just thought I'd tell you x

WARNING: RANT BELOW

When I went on the pill (microgynon) I wasn?t given any advice to what I now know!

I was told 2 years ago start thinking about coming off and using a different method as (and I quote) 'being on the pill for 7 years plus has more negative side effects than its positive effects'. Why wasn?t this told to me beforehand?

Last year I had a transvag scan as my left side was sore, with suspected problems with my ovaries or possible IBS. Both ovaries were fine and I cut out various foods and figured I have a tiny intolerance to wheat. That was all fine. I also had an underactive thyroid scare earlier this year, but that sorted itself out after 3 months.

Anyway December just gone I realised that my '7 years' of pill taking was nearly up and my partner and I decided that if it happens it happens (I don't think either of us would ever be able to say we are completely ready as we are both very spontaneous people and quite impulsive!). I came off pill in December and it took 6 weeks to have a bleed (a bit heavier than usual but I understood that was expected), I considered myself lucky as I knew it can take much longer! I carried on having monthly af until May, when it just didn't come and still hasn't!

My gp sent me to have another transvag scan and now they can?t find my left ovary? It was a sonographer and not a doctor that did it so she wasn?t ?trained? to ?talk? to patients. It?s now been 10 days and the doctors have said my results should get back to them by Wednesday but I am literally ripping my hair out.

In this time, 2 colleagues are now pregnant, 4 cousins AND 5 friends :(

We have always wanted a big family, now it just seems it won?t ever happen?

I was on the pill for the best part of ten years. It took a while to find one that suited me - I experienced headaches, moodswings, and loss of libido before finding one I was happy with. Before going on the pill i had quite a long cycle - every 6/7 weeks.

When I came off the pill the first thing I noticed was that although I'd felt fine before, I suddenly felt loads better! I lost half a stone, felt happier and had more energy. However, my periods were utterly random. In 15 months I had about 3 proper periods, plus 2 caused by tablets from my GP. (To give me a 'clear out'. Charming.)

I started having fertility investigations, but before starting any treatment, I got pregnant! That caused some confusion when I went for my first midwife appointment/first scan etc in the May: 'I think I'm about 8 weeks pregnant', 'When was your last period?' 'November' 'Huh?!'

My little boy is now 19 months old. Because of breastfeeding my periods didn't come back until he was 12 months, but since then, they have been completely regular - every 4/5 weeks.

I will never be going back on the pill.

Fingers crossed to those of you just coming off it and TTC - don't lose hope!

CLS101 - sonographers can never find my left ovary - it's there, but just really hard to find. I have a couple of friends who have this "problem" too.

Report
CLS101 · 08/08/2011 15:57

[Taking Trying to take comfort from Littlefish's comment]

I have been told that it can 'hide' but she was there for at least 15 mins looking for it, last time there was no problem.

'Surprisingly' my hosp and GP are normally very on the ball, they say 2 weeks for results but they are normally back within 1 week. Which makes me worry (BTW did anyone notice I'm a self confessed over the top worry-er? :o )

But if it happens to a lot of people then I guess it will be okay?

I feel that since we started (coming up to 8 months) everything and anything seems to be getting in the way (not just medically but jealous, interfering interested b#~$h family member/s. :(
