Any yoga teachers or experts out there?

Hi all

Following an mmc earlier this year, we are now ttc again. Given the mmc, I am a bit nervous about what I can and can't do during the 2ww.

Does anyone know whether attending regular (not pregnancy) yoga classes can do any harm during the 2ww, and whether there are any particular poses I should avoid?

I am probably worrying too much, but am keen to hear any views.

Many thanks in advance.

Always check with the Yoga teacher and see what she/he thinks. If you are used to Yoga then fine, but if its all new, then best stay on the side of caution and do an exercise you are used to ...even if its just walking or swimming etc.
With pregnancy it ok to continue the kind of exercise your body is used to but not start up something new during pregnancy... except I think something gentle like anti natal swimming .
Wishing you the very best of luck with conception... xx

Thanks crispy for the tips. Really appreciate your advice!

I expect I am being a bit neurotic, but I do prefer to err on the side of caution as you suggest.

Thanks again!

Hello,

My Yoga Teacher also teaches Yoga for pregnancy, we have a mostly Iyengar practise but take Hatha and Yin elements too. There are certain adjustments to the poses (especially ones involving twists) which your teacher should be able to advise you on if you tell her.

It's quite nice as you can tell which ladies in our class are newly pg as they get whispered adjustments, then when they have a bump they move along to the pregnancy group.

Ooh, feel a bit excited, this is my first Mumsnet post!

Thanks Ali, and sorry for the late response! Congratulations on your first post!

Very useful tip about the twists. Smile at the whispered adjustments. That is very nice. I can understand people want to be a bit discreet at the early stages.

Many thanks again
