Has anyone ever got a BFP from only swi once in the cycle...?

...and if so, which day did you swi?

Just curious to find out if there are many people who have got a BFP after only swi once whether it was during fertile period or not.

After all, they do say it is possible to get pregnant any day of your cycle. Just wanted to know if it really happens.

I have no idea what swi is but if you mean did you get pg after just having sex once then yes i did with ds2.
We knew exactly when it was because had only done it once after a drunken rugby day, followed by a huge row, followed by make up curry and sex

I got pg with dd after DTD 2 days in a row, not long after my period on CD7 & 8. I highly recommended everyone to try DTD every day (where physically possible ie. Dh around) from CD 10-16 depending on your ucl, rather than just stick to every other day! That's my plan anyway!

Dd2 is the product of 2 swis on day 14. Dh quite disappointed that he didn't make more of the ttc opportunities as less than 1 week after bfp I had swine flu, then hyperemesis which lasted until delivery. Dd2 is now just turned 1 and co-sleeps (actually co-wakes would be a better term as she's keen on being with us but not keen on the sleeping bit). has been a bit of a lean time sex wise!!!

Well we swi twice on day 19 and 20 of my cycle... I know this as I had the 21 day blood tests the next day. We were not intending to swi either LOL as we thought I was safe.... as my ovulation sticks told me I was not ovulating etc ... and here we are 9 weeks pregnant !

The months I conceived were the months we SWI right at the end of my period, day 5-6. I'm sure I ovulated very early in the month. We did it on other days but those were the months I fell pregnant.

"After all, they do say it is possible to get pregnant any day of your cycle. Just wanted to know if it really happens.".......

They say this because woman can ovulate at different days in their cycle every month, not just the traditional day 14, you cant get pregnant unless an egg and sperm are present, so it all depends on when the egg is released and the week leading up to it because sperm can live 5 days or so. I can ovulate as early as day 8 or as late as day 17, so big variation!

yes it does happen.. I managed it with dd when I was 39 (so not just 16 year olds) but I always ov on cd15 so we had sex on that day and bingo!

oh yes.

I have been wanting to stick my head in the oven as TWO yes TWO friends (aged 34 and 36 respectively) both just found out they are pregnant after doing it once each last month.

One with a sperm donor friend when the stick said yes.
One husband when the stick said yes (and she had been charting for months and was as regular as clockwork).

Yip. well two swi after coil came out and then BFP. My dh was deeply deeply disappointed in some ways (though delighted in others). He had planned months of shenanigans! I kind of figured that I would get pg quickly as both my mom and sister are hyperfertile and conceived when planned. It did throw off my timetable somewhat as I had thought since I was previously using a coil it would take more than one cycle.

cheekycurls - I have heard that before that you can swi right before af and get pregnant. How does that work?
I did swi right before af this month so am hyper interested!
I am not stalking you by the way...!

Thank you for all your revalations and thanks for the info duck I just thought if you tended to ovulate on day 14, then you would ovulate on that day every month. Didn't realise it can vary from month to month.

The thing is I decided to ttc for DC#3 this month. We did the deed on CD6. Now we have found out we are moving house in 4 weeks so decided to put ttc off until next month after we have moved.

I guess I am trying to guage the chances of already having conceived. I thought it would have been pretty much nil, but from what I am hearing, it does happen.

I do hate uncertainty!

Hi pommedechoc waves

Just having done a bit of research on t'internet, there are gazillions of mums who conceived just before or after AF. So it really does happen.

Think still highly unlikely, but not impossible.

Yes. It was day 15 for me. I did it because the ovulation stick said so.

wildstrawberryplace · 07/06/2011 12:37

Yeah. DH was away a lot so it was only the once, and it was just after the fertile window as given by OPK.

DS is now 4. So it definitely happens.

Actually looking at my ff chart for last cycle it randomly has two green fertile days on days cd25 and 26. And we dtd on cd26. So even in the pre ov period I can now obsess about being pg. Woohoo!

KvetaBarry · 07/06/2011 12:42

yes with DS.

and possibly yes with unexpected second child, testing next week. Retching and feeling wibbly at the moment though, and no sign of farking period which was due last week. Confused Oh, but we didn't SWI, we just S :o on day period was supposed to be due Angry

DH and I both oscillating between ecstatic and furious at ourselves at the mo.

pomme - you obsession has now officially got some scientific backing!

Unfortunately - your justified obsession is now going to fuel my unjustified obsession (my only justification being that the minute I decided to postpone ttc, it would be typical if I did conceive).

Reading about dotty conceiving on cd6 now means I am even more obsessed!
