Hi all Waves hi

This is my first post so please be gentle, and I'm still trying to figure out all the abbrieviations :-)

Ok, so me and my hubby have been discussing trying for a baby for a while, and I finally very spur of the moment decided that when I had my withdrawal period end of april, that I wouldn't restart taking the pill, (instead swopping it for folic acid) anyway, during May, around mid month, I felt really strange and quesy but wondered if it was my body getting used to not having the pill in it, I kept feeling strange so did a pregnancy test (negative), at end of the month I woke up knowing that my period was due, and it hasn't arrived, day after it was due I took another test still negative. So I've got no period (although according to hubby I did get all the grumpiness I normally get just before I'm due) and according to two tests I'm not pregnant.
I have to say I've been on the pill for 11 years, I'm 28, classed as overweight but not massive, I started excerising regular from Jan, and my fitness levels have improved hugely, I can eat good and very very bad (far too much of a sweet tooth).
I guess my worry is that I thought my body would fall straight back into sync and I could at least work out my cycle, but now I'm worried that it will take ages, is there anything I can do to help it? or do I just wait?

Thanks for reading all the babble, as I said I'm new to this.

x

it can take a while for your body to return to normal after being on the pill. it took me 6weeks to return to normal. i'm not sure but i think the doctor can give you something to kick start your periods again but i'm not sure, someone else maybe more help to you :) (didn't want you to go unanswered)

When I was your age, I stopped taking the Pill after many years (wasn't trying to conceive though). It took about 5 months for my periods to restart! Not pregnant, just readjusting. Good luck.

Hi Machin11 I?m new to MN as well.
I came off the pill in October and the first 4 months my cycle has ranged from anything between 28 days up to 35 but it hopefully seems to have settled down or I hope so anyway! You might not go back to the cycle you were on before the pill, if you can remember it that is, I certainly can?t remember mine. But I wouldn?t worry for the moment, give it a couple of months and then see.

Hi all

Thanks for responding, I guess I've always been impatient, so once I decide that I'm doing something I need it to happen, it feels very strange that I have no control over it. I guess it also feels wierd as I've never tried for a baby before so have no idea if I can get pregant or not. I've got one friend who has been trying for 5 years and no luck, and another who got pregnant after 5 days off the pill, I know my hubby can have kids as I have a fab stepson :-)
