Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.

10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

mamarara welcome. it isn't about "blagging"early scans. If you've had a precious ectopic or early mc, the Nhs should provide early scans. I've had them at 6, 7 and 8 weeks at the Epu. I've decided not to have them at Epu this time as I feel genuinely traumatised by the place, so am going privately at either 7 or 8 weeks.

I'm very bad at doing lists but could the next person to update please correct me? I'm 4 + 6.

Ohh I knew I'd bugger it up!!!! I've added 2 days to everyone, expect those on the 'grads' list. Opps, sorry. I'm on my phone again now though, so could someone else correct my cock up?? Smile

Used Doppler again last night so dh could hear the hb. He loved it. It was def pups heartbeat as I could hear my slower one wushing over it. happy happy.

Hello,

Just got my BFP on Friday, after previous ectopic and MC, so mentalling away already. Just a short post to say hello, I already know some of you from the ttc after mc thread. >

Can I ask a very stupid question? On the list you have, I'm guessing that 8+3, for example, means 8 weeks and 3 days, but counting from when? First day of last AF or mid cycle (ov)?

Thanks for the info hairy sorry didn't mean to sound flippant. I haven't been offered any scans. When I was pg with my dd I went to the EPU acouple of times because of bleeding (this was me forcing them rather than being offered a scan). They did hooha cam and were very dismissive of me. I have been told that unless there is any bleeding then I can't have an early scan.

We also aren't given 12 week scans in my area. First nhs scan is at 20 weeks. Which seems very unreasonable and against government guidelines.

Sorry to hear you have had bad experiences - I can sympathise- my first mc they put me on the labour ward. Traumatic isn't even the word. Since then I have tried to avoid the dr/hospital where possible.

Thanks for sorting the new thread collie and welcome to the new people, although sorry that you have to be here. Ive been quietly enjoying the positive scan news until today when for some reason I just felt completely overwhelmed, like I wasn't sure how I'd ever get through the next few weeks nevermind another 7 months and how completely unbearable it would all be to loose another bean. Lots of tears and chats with Dh made ne feel much better, but now I've randomly had a big dump of cm (tmi-sorry!), tinged with noticeable brown. I has this in the first mc, but not the mmc and nothing like that in this preg up to now.

I know lots of you have had bleeds etc and things have been ok, but were they around 8+3? I've got a bit of cramping too, but nothing really bad. Trying really hard not to freak out right now-really thought the aspirin was doing the trick this time :-(

scooby Many of us had lots of bleeding, at all times before and after 8+3, and it's brown tinged rather than pink so it's probably nothing at all to worry about. Plus, you are likely to get some form of tinged discharge around 4 weeks and 8 weeks as your natural cycle would be occurring then.

scooby when I had dd I had bleeding at 7 and 9 weeks. Terrified me and I went to the EPU. Can you go to your EPU or get gp to refer you?

lara our mentalling seems very similar-I've checked 'chances of mc after hb at 7 weeks' too!

scooby random bleeding seems to be sort of normal on here even though it's so scary. I've had it at 5 and 8 weeks (red and mostly brown) and all seems ok at the minute I'd call the EPU and try for a scan- it made me feel better.

Feel bad today as my best friend rang to say she thinks she's pg again with her third. She was so pleased we'll be off on maternity leave together. I'm so chuffed for her and it will be great- so why was all I could think "Oh god when this all goes wrong how am I going to be able to watch her getting bigger and bigger and stay really excited for her"? Confused I feel like a rubbish friend cos I'm not even able to imagine us both with babies- like now she's pg, mine is bound to go wrong! I know this is mad and I deserve a good slapping as she's been fab about the mc and would be gutted to know I felt like this. Smile

mamarara I'm disgusted that you've had a MC before and they won't provide an early scan :( I thought it was fairly standard to be at least offered one - I'm almost sure there are some guidelines somewhere I've seen about the benefits of offering early scans.

I have had three MC, and this is my fourth pregnancy - I really don't want to step into the same room for the six week one where they can't actually tell you much "it may or may not be proceeding, we will have to rescan you next week" , or the seven week one where they tell you it's all gone wrong, or the ten week one where they tell you your baby died two weeks ago :(

Private scans are available from between £75 and £100 in my area.

I'm joining you after finally getting a BFP yesterday..
I'm not sure how updiffed I am (hence my name...) I "know" some of you already from the other thread the "trying" one. I'm not quite ready to out myself as Im worried about people I know in real life reading this. But Izzy, Nickster, Dachs, hairy and many others of you I think might remember me! :o

Anyway, I think I am about 6+2 weeks, but think I had some implantation bleeding that I thought was a period, (I could also only be about 3+1 weeks..) So a bit confused really, and I guess I will be until I get a scan.

Did a random poundland cheapy poas yesterday and got 3 strong positives, then I went and got a digi and got a positive with 3+ weeks... So I think I'm more likely to be 6+4 than 3+2 weeks if that makes sense.

m/c last year at 6+4 weeks. So really really freaking out this week..... keeping everything crossed...

Really hoping to be here for some time :)

Big welcome to all the newbies to the thread (sorry not to name-check personally). This thread is very reassuring and no freak-out too freakish although there may be some fish-slapping now and again!

All good here though madly busy at work which is annoying. Will be telling my boss this Weds and as he's male and old-ish, I'm hoping that he will grant my every demand for what I plan to work over the next few months! Grin

What a day ds swallowed a 5p coin this afternoon so off to a+e for xray. thankfuly it went into his stomach so just waiting for it to come out, but i don't think i'll be able to check if it has or not if you catch my meaning.

Evening ladies and hello newbies - new thread already - wow! I'm really struggling to keep up at the moment as my phone is broken, work is really busy and we've had an offer accepted on a house! My thoughts are with you all lots though. Hope the mentalling is not too bad xxx

FWIW I wasn't offered (and if fact was refused) and early scan on the NHS in this pg until I started bleeding. As it turned out, I bled so many times I ended up having several, but sometimes I had to push for them even if I was bleeding. I also booked myself in for two private scans at the Fetal Medicine Centre which was absolutely fab! Would highly recommend it for anyone mentalling and unable to get an NHS one.

Sorry for not name-checking. I'll likely be doing like Mummya popping in and out of this thread while things in RL are so busy. I'm also popping in and out on the grads thread so will try and keep up on everyone's news one way or another!

I can't get any NHS scans either, am paying for all mine. 'tis rubbish but I'm resigned to it now. NT scan tomorrow
