After more than a decade of fertility problems/miscarriages and then 2 miracle kids, we are embarking on our last ditch attempt for #3. It may be greedy, it may be foolish but we would love to have a bigger family. i don't seem able to get pg without intervention so clomid has been prescribed again.

If it doesn't work then I think we will finally have closure on a very long fertility journey. Even if it DOES work then it will be another miracle if I can hang on to the pg. I have had 7 m/c over the years.

We are very very lucky to have our 2 dcs but fingers crossed the lucky pills have one more dose of baby dust inside.

Good luck to you. Smile I have just been prescribed clomid by the doctor and am due to start when/if AF arrives in 2 weeks. I have 2 wonderful children already (conceived naturally without a flippin' care in the world).

Decided to try for a cheeky last baby at the tender age of 43 and proceeded to have 2 MC's. It's been a year of trying since the last MC so doc has said I can try 3 months of clomid. If it doesn't work I will be pulling the plug on the whole 'last baby' thing as I am nearly 45. Hope you are posting about your BFP very soon.

Thanks hippychick. I hope it works for you, too. It does feel weird being back on the 'official' fertility trail again. After a few years of it just not happening naturally again I think we also need to pull that plug if the clomid doesn't work. I feel strangely excited about the prospect but reasonably realistic that it might not work for us now.

Good luck!

I know what you mean - I swing between being stupidly excited that it might work and stoically realistic that it probably wont Confused.

Keep me posted!

I bet my realistic approach will be out of the window when the ffh kicks in! Good luck, I hope AF arrives quickly and you can get on with it too.

Can I join you? I just started Clomid for the first time yesterday too. Also trying for number 3 (but not admiring it to anyone). Other two were conceived with a lot of temperature taking due to v irregular cycles but nothing else. Nearing 40, it's now or never and like you, I feel like I need to know now if it's going to be 2 or 3. Not offerly optimistic that clomid will work but am willing to give it a try!

Welcome KEA! Sounds like we are in a similar place. Fingers crossed we get a pleasant surprise. How are you feeling on the clomid? Taking mine at night and haven't any side effects yet.
Good luck!

Took mine at 2pm as saw the consultant yesterday and literally took it as soon as I collected them from the pharmacy. I couldn't sleep last night but not sure if that was general stress (mum just diagnosed with cancer & 6 yr old with a serious hip problem) or the meds. Will see what happens tonight. Not completely sure what happens with scans, do you? Have a scan booked for day 10. But what happens after that?

Hi and welcome kea. We do all seem to be in a similar situation. Grin Collectively we have 6 children - which is really fab but how nice it would be if we could all get a 3rd as well (greedy little Hippy face Smile).

You two are ahead of me as you've already started and I am currently on the 2WW. I did collect my clomid today though but stupidly am hoping that I wont need it - cos I did a lot of SWI this month Blush (Shag With Intent).

Quick question ladies. What cycle day did you start clomid please? My prescription says start on day 2 and take 5 tabs. Is that a bit early to start? I thought it was day 5 -9????

KEA · 11/05/2011 19:37

Hi Hippychick, yes 6 children sounds rather alot but it doesn't prevent you from wanting just one more...

Ha,ha never heard of SWI before, v good! Fingers crossed you won't need Clomid after all. Have just been reading a thread on Clomid & multiple pregnancies.... Hmm not sure about 4 ;)

Thanks for your kind thought too. My mum seems v upbeat & waiting to find out about treatment. I'm just assuming she is going to be ok.

I started day 3 as I got meds yesterday & Doc said day 2 or 3. Lots of diferent info on the web though.

It is usually prescribed for days 2-6 over here and 3-7 in the States. I ended up taking mine on day 2 of proper flow but technically day 3. Who knows!

Sorry to hear about your Mum and little one. Doesn't sound like life is too rosy for you guys at the moment.

clomidhelpneeded · 12/05/2011 21:10

Oh yes, I need to get some of that too. Thanks for the reminder! Starting on day 2 is definitely fine. Fingers crossed you don't need to remember any of this because Af will stay away...

That would be nice yes Grin

Do you know which medicine to buy?? I read that as long as the only active ingredient is guaifenesin then it's fine.

Report
clomidhelpneeded · 13/05/2011 22:18

I think it was Robitussin last time but I can't remember where I got that idea from!

Yeah that is what many people say on the internet. I read that the active ingredient in it is guaifenesin and as long as that is the only active ingredient then a generic version is fine.

I plan to take that, drink water and drink grapefruit juice - blimey I may leave a snails trail behind me Blush

I'm 1 week into the 2WW - so not long to go now. The second week is the worst really cos you can't help but symptom spot Hmm.....

Ladies - I am popping my first ever clomid pill tomorrow. I was told day 2. But do you think that would that be at the beginning of day 2 or at the end or don't you think it matters??!

Most people have told me to take it at night as it can make you feel a bit nauseous. I am planning to take my first one when I go to bed on day 2.

Good luck. Keep us posted. Grin
