What do I do I haven't had a period for over two months now, i'm 25 and want another baby- my d has just turned one... Have taken a multitude of preg tests but i'm not pregnant... Do I go to the doctors??? I'm just worried about what they might do/find? Am I being silly?
Finished the pill in July so maybe it's that??? Not sure but want some advice and help!!!

Hi

Has this happened before?.

Sometimes such problems are caused by hormonal imbalances which can be treated. Your first port of call should be your GP; you can have a blood test done to see what your hormone levels are actually like.

Do you have any other symptoms?.

There is no evidence to suggest that the pill is responsbile for failure to ovulate but it can mask any underlying hormonal problems that have always been there (usually irregular periods are caused by hormonal imbalances).

Hope this helps, do seek out your GP

It has happened before but that was when my mum was seriously ill and then died, so at that time I put it down to stress.
My stress levels are the lowest they have ever been now- well, apart from the fact I have a one yr old who is hell bent on pushing every button on the tv, video and dvd player...!
I ended the pill in July and we (partner and I) agreed that if I fell pregs then we would be happy but seens as I have had no period... no such luck. I have still taken various tests in between times, just in case I do fall preg and don't know.
Saw on the nhs website thingie that it can take up to six months for the pill to go out of your system and regain normal periods, but it has never happened before and my periods have always ran like clock work and i'm worrying for the worse!
I am overweight too, and thought that maybe a reason why but it has never happened before and I am dieting like mad to see if that alters anything.
Guess I a just going to have to see the doc and face my fears that maybe something could be wrong.

Hi,

It all depends what contraception you take, the "ordinary" (for want of a better word) bcp leaves you system very quickly after you stop taking it. Other methods like depo provera can take months for it to leave the system (actually I have read that this should not be prescribed to women whose families are not complete!!).

Stress can cause all sorts of things but not such absent periods (I see this has happened before also). A more likely culprit is a hormonal imbalance (hence my suggestion to have a blood test done).

Being overweight can affect periods too especially if there is an underlying hormonal problem.

Please see your GP.
