So, on another thread we have been thinking about getting fitter/ healthier/ losing weight/ detoxing. As it's all kind of related to our TTC, I thought I'd start a thread here.

The general idea is just to support each other, whatever our goals are. Mine is getting healthier, with an eye to a baby at the end!

I'm going to try to take one day at a time, I already feel like i'm rattling with supplements, so probably cutting out alcohol and doing more exercise are my next daunting steps!

Anyone else in?Smile

I'm in!!
-Will be starting Pregnacare (his & hers) tomorrow!
-Already shortlisted the gym we will be joining (numerous failed solo attempts but OH is as good as personal trainer!)
-Drank bottle of sparkly with very indulging takeaway last night : last for a while!!
-General healthy eating starts now!!

Now I'm just extremely nervous/scared that starting to TTC is the right thing to do!

Im in!

I am only having chocolate on Fridays!! ( in 2010 ate lots of chocolate everyday!) I am allowed other sweeties but no chocolate- I am a healthy size 10 and exercise regularly but seem to have trouble TTC my 1st so thought lowering my sugar may help.....

Started pregnacare couple of months ago, thats when I remember to take it lol.

Lily don't be scared, its exciting! I have been TTC for nearly 7 months now and have found it exciting/scary/exhilarating/upsetting etc etc. It is a world of emotions but I am hoping that I will be blessed with a bump soon, if not I only have until the Summer until I can get checked out by the docs...

I'm in too! I haven't quite worked out how I'm going to achieve what I want ... which is weight loss. Am looking for some inspiration Smile.

I have so much I think I need to do but I am going to start with quitting smoking.

I gave up before but started again when I had the miscarriage. TTc again now, so am stopping.

Second goal is losing the weight I put on by comfort eating and during the time I was pg. Need to lose about a stone and a half to get back to ideal weight.

Ochaye I recommend slimming world!

ooh, hello!

lily I think that OH as personal trainer sounds like a fab idea, it's always much easier training with two. I occasionally run with my best pal, and it is much easier motivation wise!

crazy I need to cut down my chocolate intake tooBlush. There's so much crap in the house though that it seems really almost impossible. One day at a time

Hey nix and ochaye and kat, how are you? kat somebody was recommending hypnotherapy on the other thread, have you thought about that? It's difficult I know. I gave up about 6 years ago now, but it's a rocky road!

ochaye i'm going to start by trying to cut out crap, and alcohol(drastic, I know) and see if that helps at all with weight loss. I'm not very overweight but could always do with more toning!

I've promised myself that if I succeed I will buy me some new boots at the end of the month. 28 days to go.....Grin

Hello all - I'm in!!

I need to lose weight (about a stone or slightly more) and get fit. I have started to accept that this will mean doing some form of exercise. Even considering joining gym Shock

This is partly to try to look/feel better about myself but also to help ttc #3, I'm in month 6 after a mmc and sone healthy living has got to help!

I am going to Slimming World on Thursday with a friend for moral support and motivation...Not going to starve myself before then though because I want to see some weight come off at the weigh-ins Grin

Me too!! I got married in July and was so good in terms of exercise and eating healthy but since then it's been downhill... We have just started ttc this month, So before I get pg I want to be as healthy as possible. Hopefully we will be able to keep each other motivated! Went for a 5k run today- it nearly killed me but feel good. Did have chocolate though- taking the rest into work tomorrow, the rest of the staffroom can eat them.

I'm in! I want to get fitter and shed half a stone. I'm thinking about getting the EA Active thingy. Might help me stop obsessing about TTC :)

Report
ochaye · 03/01/2011 20:35

What's the EA Active thingy weimy? I definitely need something to keep me on track. I've tried slimming world once hairy and I did like it, but I have this problem that a diet works for me once, but then when I go back to it, no joy. Same happened with weightwatchers Sad. I don't need to lose huge amounts, but would really love to be trimmer if and when I do get a bfp.

Is there maybe something we could all use to track and share? Like the fertility friend site but for weight loss? We could have a regular weight in even???

Hey there YRMOTB! I think that sounds like a good start. I need to hide away all the rubbish in the house and get myself some healthy snacks in. Any suggestions?

Me too! Having trouble conceiving #1, and I need to get rid of 2 more stone before the doctor can move me along to the next stage of any potential treatments.

I have eaten everything in my path for the past two weeks, but am back at work tomorrow so able to get back into a routine of healthy packed lunches and walking to work.

TheCake - I can see your name is going to tempt me a lot!

Oh yeah, weimy, I've seen that! It looks quite good, doesn't it?

My day has went well, I've been to pilates and no chocolate has passed my lips! I have consumed a handful of hula hoops, but on the whole i'm quite glad!

How are you all?

griselda it's easier if you have your lunch with you, isn't it? Less external temptation! What would be the next stage of treatment when you achieve your weight loss?

I went running yesterday and have been to circuits today. I think if I exercise then I'll be less inclined to drink wine when I get home

Hmm just for the record I don't have a drink problem - I just want to have an alcohol free January Grin

Ochaye twiglets are pretty healthy if you don't want to do the whole carrot stick thing or you can get a little box delivered to you - google Graze I think they are called.

I'm in. I need to lose about 8 stone in total. I'm also starting slimming world on thursday IzzyWizzy its my 3rd rejoin. I lost 1 1/2 stone in 3 month last time. It works as long as you stick to your syn count and stay to group for the support. I didn't starve on it last time. i need to lose some before i can up my exercise level due to health problems.

well done sunshine! I'm the same with the alcohol, but there's only beer in the house now, so if I can just avoid shops with wine in them, I'll be fine! (NB I don't have a drink problem either, contrary to indications given on hereGrin)

Has anyone got any ideas for something to have after dinner to avoid biscuits etc? I normally just have dinner then later on have a cup of tea and always feel like something sweet with it.

Have been doing reasonably well on the eating front but am struggling to get round to exercise yet. I'll work on that once I get back to work and in the swing of things!

Very impressed with all of you exercising twice a day. Brilliant start!

Twice a day, ochaye ?!!! Eeek - think I'm going to struggle to keep up!!

So far I've cut down on snacks (no nibbling chocolate or biscuits) and am thinking I might get back on the Wii Fit tonight (haven't been on for about six months) and force myself to do the fitness test first to try and boost motivation. Tomorrow night it's Slimming World which I'm kind of dreading but feeling quite positive about iykwim - I did Weight Watchers after having dd, stuck to it really well and it really worked. So I have big hopes for SW too. unicorn looks like we're both starting together - good luck with the first weigh-in!!

I'm another one who doesn't have a drink problem but is definitely cutting down on the wine Grin. It's too easy especially over Christmas to get into the habit of pouring a glass every night!!!

Not me izzy!! All the other keenies on this thread Smile. I need to get back into work before I can work out the exercise part.

How is the wii fit?

Report
IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 05/01/2011 22:43

ochaye the wii fit told me I hadn't used it for 615 days Shock. It then went on to tell me I hadn't met any of the goals I had set last time, that I had actually put on another 6 lb and that I was now in the "overweight" category. It then suggested I set some smaller goals that might be more achievable for me Blush. So I've basically spent the evening being insulted and then patronised by a cartoon board.

On the upside, however my wii fit age was 32 (real age 34) which I was pleased and amazed at, and I quite enjoyed doing some of the exercises again.

So step one taken. How's everyone else getting on?

Report
PatientGriselda · 06/01/2011 09:58

Well done izzy for wii success and for rising above its initial insulting comments - the sneaky extra 6lbs will come off before you know it. And good luck to you and unicorn at SW. I lost 2 stone with them last year, before moving away and not having a convenient group any more (whereupon I promptly put the 2 stone back on, of course). Just the fact of getting weighed each week was really helpful for me, as it meant I couldn't ignore the scales for years at a time any more!

ochaye - what about something like ginger tea? The zingy taste might make you feel less like you need something sweet. And the lack of caffeine is probably good for general ttc health as well.

Babe - next stage for me would only be clomid, but gp quite reasonably wants me to be in better shape so as not to "waste" it on me while I might be having trouble for other (fatter) reasons. Three stone down, (one stone back on over Christmas) two stone to go...
