Please help, how many tests?

Hello everyone.

When you had a positive test, how many more tests over how many days did you do?

Having had 3 positives on 2 different days and mega symptoms so far I still feel like I need to keep testing, but then I think it's daft. Feeling quite neurotic about it. Is this normal?

Here is the story, my period is usually anything from 30 to 38 days, however this month I got EWCM on around CD 11 until CD 13 and none really after that.

CD 24 nausea, sore boobs, general weirdness, stars in eyes.
CD 25 nausea, sore sore boobs, sparkly tum.
CD 26 all of above plus more, and did a HPT and got a positive, kind of faint, but it wasn't very faint, appeared at around 90 seconds post dunk.
CD 28 2 more tests, 1 the same brand, stronger +ve, 1 other brand, positive.
CD 29 or in other words today, all of the symptoms, plus the nausea has progressed to me hovering over the toilet 10 times, retching, trying to be sick, having to finish work early as I couldn't carry on working and dashing to the loo and sitting there feeling so sick.

Should I stop testing??????

I want to do more to see it get stronger, but then I have all the symptoms!

Oh and to wipe out anyone's doubts, this is the first ever time I've been through this.

Thanks. Xmas Smile

I felt I was before I tested, hence why I tested early early. But I feel like I want to carry on testing. Is this really daft?

Congratulations! Smile

No more need to test. Honest. Yes, it is daft but not uncommon to keep testing as there is no such thing as a false positive. Do what you must to keep yourself sane. So if testing drives you bananas, STOP. If not testing makes you nervous, TEST.

Remember to stop testing before labour starts Wink. And make sure you use cheapo tests as to not bankrupt yourself before you even start getting involved in baby purchases

Oh, and the tests are not quantitative ie the strength of the line does not really matter. Unless you use the outrageously expensive ones that tell you how many weeks you are. Insane Unnecessary, IMO.

Ok, thanks. I think it's just because of how early I found out. I think. Or else it could just be me being me. I must admit to having spent £20 on tests this afternoon on the way home! Ah well. Thanks for the answers :)

If you are a compulsive tester then I recommend these as they are only 17p each!

I tested every day for about a week and then every 2-3 days. I'm now 6+2 and will prob only do one or two more and then lock the tests up! But now I have sickness so I feel happier to stop testing, it's the symptom light part that unnerves me Confused

Congratulations.

if you are very early using the clearblue digital is very re-assuring - around the time of your missed period the conception indicator will show 1-2 weeks, when your hcg level has risen some more you will get 2-3 weeks, and finally 3+ weeks...it does re-assure over the first couple of weeks. it might do you and baby better to try and relax though, all the re-assurance in the world isnt going to stop nature taking it's course, which is an all likelihood is a lovely healthy baby x

ive done loads of tests 2 -though they are just sat there as i got a cheapy 25 pack from amazon-and as we dont plan having any more they may aswell get used! though i must admit 2 wanting 2 buy a digital 1 just 2 c the words.
have 2 dcs already and was not like this with either of them!!!!!! crazy stuff

i tested negative at cd 22, VERY VERY faint positive twice on cd 24, (all on cheapys), faint positive on FR on cd 26 (boxing day), and positive on numerous cheapys since, just want 2 watch the line get darker (which it has, its just nowhere near as dark as the control line)
but
i DO know that i AM pregnant, esp after originally getting negatives.
am going 2 stop when cheapys run out
and NOT WASTE any more money on expensive tests e.g. pack of 2 for £12!!!! (esp when i got 25 for less than a fiver)

BUT
thats just me, if it comforts you to carry on testing tehn go ahead and dont feel guilty!
(or you could stop everytime you go to buy 1 and put the money in a pot instead to either buy baby something nice, or treat yourself)

Hey 100 :) For a quick fix try the superdrug ones - they are cheaper and v.good.

I kept testing until the point where I was fairly sure the tests would malfunction. I.e. around 6/7 weeks. And yes, I got through a lot of tests, I wrote the dates on all of them and arranged them in a row so I could compare them - and the line did get progressively darker on each test so I was happy. But then again, I wasn't as sicky as you are at that point, I might not have bothered testing if I'd had my head down the loo!

Whatever gives you peace of mind, I reckon. Congrats!

hiya, you are definately preganant but i know how you feel. i have a bag full of the cheap tests at home and have done quite a few tests just to see the line come up and to see it get darker. silly really but no harm in it :-)

You're pregnant.

Retesting won't tell you anything beyond that. Sometimes the line gets darker, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the line gets darker and it isn't a viable pregnancy. Sometimes it doesn't darken at all, sometimes you even get a couple of negatives interspersed and the pregnancy is absolutely fine.

You're pregnant. You are not only getting positive tests, you're having symptoms. You need to start believing that and obsessively googling pregnancy calendars and pictures of v early scans instead. Then start looking at grains of rice and thinking 'gosh it's that big', you can soon progress to a pea.

Repeat testing means you miss out on a world of other early pregnancy obsessions. One at a time you need to take them or you go a bit mad.

And er I did about 15 tests before 6 weeks with dd.

Thank you ladies for all of your replies.

I still don't really believe it's happening, even though I have all the symptoms.

I must admit to having tested again this morning, and on the Tesco test the positive line came up before it had even got through the test window, so I was pleased about that.

But I still feel like it's not really real! Even though I know it is.

Had a real blub just now when I got home from work.

First time nerves I suppose.

But I'm pregnant :)

Thanks again. I really appreciate the reassurance and the fact that I'm not the only one to continue testing.

Aw, you have taken me right back. Congratulaions! I had two tests. I did the first one and was so shocked it was positive - despite it being planned (but first month of trying) - I then had to go do the other one. I kept them too hellymelly.
