after being on the depo for years, i came off over a year ago, no periods. Just had a semi period this week !! ( yeah !) Now i am panicing... we are going to oz end of jan for 9 weeks. What if i concieve in the mean time ( cause of implications for flying and morning sickness, miscarrige etc, whilst away )..... Is there a male pill around yet? or shall i take pot luck knowing that depo maght take even longer to get the ovaries going again ? Don't want to go on the pill as had enough of hormones..... Any suggestions?

Erm..condoms? As far as I'm aware flying is only a risk to baby in the third trimester of pregnancy and normally airlines only don't let you fly incase you give birth on the plane!

To be honest it's more of a risk to you because of your increased blood pressure and the added risk of deep vein thrombosis.

If you really don't want to fall whilst you're away then use condoms or abstain at least you'll have a couple more cycles so when you do get pregnant they'll be able to 'date' you more accurately. Hope it helps xx

I think decafgirl is right, generally flying is not seen as a risk to the baby during the first trimester. I did a quick Google search on "long haul flight first trimester" and turned up a load of articles, so I recommend that you do a little reading to see if there are any hidden risks.

Most people seem to advise trying to get an emergency exit seat for more legroom, getting an aisle seat for easy bathroom access, drinking loads of water, and being sure to stand up and walk around regularly.

Most airlines have regulations around pregnant women, and will have a number of weeks past which they will not let you fly. I suggest you check your airlines regulations, work backwards from you return flight dates and make sure you'll be well within for timings.

And yes, as decafgirl says, if necessary use condoms for a bit

Hugs,
Artoo.

Thanx for advise.... Never been pregnant in my life... so that is more important than a holiday to me...... Won't be using condoms ... taking pot luck, as cycle not returned to normal yet anyway !!! I would be thrlled by a new arrival !! Thanks again.... ( back on again.... have been on for three weeks now... )
