hi everyone.
been trying for a few months. have got myself a persona monitor and this is the 2nd cycle i have used it. it told me i was ovulating yesterday and today. anyway after 'the job' last night and this morining i lay on the bed with my legs up in the air like a right numpty for ages. does this really help. is there any other way i can keep the 'wee guys' in and get them to go the right way. any advice and help would be very appreciated. also , how long does it take for the 'wee guy' to find the egg once 'the job' is done?

thanks very much

Hi Juice, I did the legs in the air and the temping and 2 months later I was preg. So something must work. Not sure how long it takes but I have read somewhere that 10 to 20 minutes should be enough.

good luck

Legs up in the air after sex is not necessary. It's just another myth that's been banded about.

Enough sperm will get to the cervix from where it will not escape. Sperm can live in that area for up to five days.

It would be easier on your back (and less likely to make you feel like a numpty) if you just put a pillow under your bottom.

I did the pillow... I swear by the pillow... both times I got pregnant the first month I remembered to do 'the pillow' it is not a myth!!

(Use an old pillow though, in case you sneeze....)

If you read the fertility books none of them say that this is necessary!. It IS a myth!. Hate to see untruths banded about as fact.

It's not a myth it's noooot! And anyway how is lying on your arse with a pillow shoved under it for 20 minutes going to hurt anyone anyway? You might even get a few cuppas out of it!

"how long does it take for the 'wee guy' to find the egg once 'the job' is done?"

Depends on when the egg is released! The egg only survives after being released for 12-24 hrs, so it might be that the sperm have been waiting up there for a few days beforehand, or if 'the job' coincides perfectly with ovulation, then might just be a few hours.

I'm with Meerkat on the bum on pillow being a myth, but I did it anyway, as it certainly can't hurt!

Even better is for you to orgasm after your partner, as that makes the cervix dip into the pool of sperm that are lying in wait.

Good luck!

I did the pillow and the orgasm bit. Definatly reccomend the orgasm bit. You can feel evrything contracting so it must help the little swimmers. It certainly helped mine, Got my pos test yesterday. Your not hurting anyone and the orgasm bits nice Go for it girl, knock youself out.

Good Luck xxxxxxxxxxxx

It doesn't really matter if it's a myth; if it makes someone feel that they're doing something positive to help their chances of conceiving then there's nothing wrong with it. And it's certainly not hurting anyone.

It's true that there's no evidence to suggest that it works ... and there's probably no evidence to suggest that it doesn't, either.

I did it the last couple of months and got my BFP, have heard it is good, also not to go for a wee for a while afterwards. A couple of times I went right through to the next morning without a wee. Hope this helps.

I'm doing the pillow under bum too. Can't help and there's nothing more demoralising than after the deed, feeling it all squidge out. May be a myth but it makes me feel like I'm helping things along!
