I apologise because I know this has been asked before but I just couldn't find any relevant threads.

Yesterday I did an Asda hpt and I got a very very faint positive but it was after the 3 minute time rule and somewhere within 20 mins. Today I did a test first thing and got a line within 6 mins. The line is still faint but much stronger than yesterday

I'm really confused and don't know what to think because it tells you to read you rseult at 3 mins and don't read after 15 minutes. So what is this no man's land in between 3-15 minutes? Does a line count as positive if shown in that time. This is driving me crazy!!!

it trakes up to 3 mins or the result to show, and you should disregard after the 20/15 mins. so that was a bfp. congrats.

This means that you probably are pregnant but the hormones (that the preg test measures) are still getting going and not quite strong enough to show up.
To get a more concentrated sample don't have too much to drink and save a wee up for as long as poss- that way it'll have more hormones in it and you'll most likely get a proper positive.

when is/was your period due? tests arent as accurate as you would think before 14dpo

Alibobster Wed 17-Nov-10 10:24:32

Lissie I/m on cd 31 of average 26/27 cycle. I'm really keen to find out because as soon as I'm pregnant I need to start gettoing HCG injection.

OracleInaCoracle Wed 17-Nov-10 10:39:56

call your cons now then you are pg. why do you need HCG injection? that could explain why line is quite faint.

Alibobster Wed 17-Nov-10 11:07:22

I've had 3 miscarriages lissie. Consultant seems to be going through a process of elimination to find out what's wrong. He said next time I got pg I was to get HCG injections every week till 12 weeks

nurse47 Wed 17-Nov-10 11:13:20

Id call him now and get them started, would they not do a blood test for you then you would be sure? I did a couple of test that showed up +ve after the time frame and iv always gone on to be pg so congrats!

OracleInaCoracle Wed 17-Nov-10 11:14:46

right, call cons now. (wonders if her cons might consider HCG) which clinic are you with?

Alibobster Wed 17-Nov-10 11:15:36

Thanks nurse47. I don't want to waste their time incase I'm not pg though. I'll do another test tomorrow and if that shows positive within 3 minutes then I'll give the EPU a call

Alibobster Wed 17-Nov-10 11:16:23

Lissie I deal with the EPU at my local hospital. The midwives are really fantastic

OracleInaCoracle Wed 17-Nov-10 11:17:15

it take up to 3 minutes for the result to show. that means that a result that shows between 3 and 15 minutes is the result you ARE pg my lovely. call them today.

Alibobster Wed 17-Nov-10 11:19:46

Thank you lissie, I will. I have just seen your post on another topic. I really hope you get good news tomorrow. I know from your previous posts that you have been through the most hellish time and I wish you lots of good luck and positive thoughts.

Hi Lissie, just wondering how you are? I got another faint line this morning, this time at 4 minutes.

Going to get blood taken at epu this afternoon but not holding out much hope

pud1 Thu 18-Nov-10 10:06:14

i had a faint line. went to the dictors for a proper test and the nurse did a test with my first sample of the morning. it was still faint but she told me a line is a line ad i was pg. the gp sent my sample off to be tested but unfortunatly i started to bleed and mc before the results came through. was pg though. fingers crossed for you

Alibobster Thu 18-Nov-10 10:19:57

Thank you pud. I'm very sorry to hear about your m/c. Hope you're doing ok x

pud1 Thu 18-Nov-10 10:26:38

it was 4 years ago now. i struggled to conceive first time as i had 2 mc's and it took over a year to get pg each time. i then had dd1 in feb 08 and found out i was pg with dd2 in oct08. it was a real shock, was on the mini pill and breastfeeding.

Alibobster Thu 18-Nov-10 16:59:36

thanks Lissielou but I've been here before and I know what the outcome will be.When the midwife phoned me i actualy wanted her to tell me my level was under 25 and no longer pg, at least I would have known where I stood. Instead I have to wait till Monday for a repeat test.

Thanks Nurse47 I'll keep you updated. It's terrible to say but I get really pissed off at people who just get pregnant when they decide to. I'm trying hard not to be bitter but sometimes it's so difficult.

I'm so lucky to have my ds, he is the light at the end of my horrible ttc tunnel!
