Trying for a baby after M/C and Contraception Pill

Hi,

Me and my partner are hoping to try for a baby. Last time I got pregnant it ended in a missed miscarriage. I'm soooo scared something went wrong with the operation as my periods havent been the same since. I wanted some advice.

My periods arent regular and have always been heavy which is why I started taking the pill. I've been on the pill for over a year now and wanted to know how long it takes for the pill to wear off.

Also is there ANYTHING I can do to make sure I don't end in misscarriage again?

Thanks

The Pill doesn't 'wear off'. The hormones don't stay in your system, and that's why women can get pregnant just by missing one pill! You should consider yourself fertile as soon as you stop taking it.
Sorry about your miscarriage, but I honestly don't think there is anything you can do to avoid another miscarriage, but it is much more likely that you will get pregnant and have a healthy baby. Good luck.

So with us wanting to try and have a baby born around September (boyfriends idea, so that it's the oldest in it's class) when do we need to be trying to concieve if the pill isn't a factor?

Nine months previously! But don't assume that you will get pregnant straight away, fertility is very individual and a lot of luck is involved.

So technically around November, December would be ok? January is 9 months previously so to help I should really stop taking the pill in say December or November.

I don't really care about when I'm just looking forward to it all. It's just man logic that's all. Ha Ha

They say you're meant to start taking some pills when you know you're pregnant what type are they and where can I get them from

Um if you stop taking the pill in November you could easily get pregnant in November - hey presto! August baby! I would always say don't start 'trying' until you want a baby. You should be taking folic acid supplements, either alone or as part of a pregnancy multivitamin now as levels take a while to reach the optimum level and you need to take it before you get pregnant as by the time you are pregnant and realise it, all too often is is too late. Good luck.

Mumswish - Try not to 'organise' it too much!! These things are verrrrry unpredictable.

When ds was about 2 I decided I wanted another. We were getting married OCt 03 so we decided to start trying the Christmas after that (so wanted to avoid another Christmas with morning sickness).

Anyway, a month after the wedding DH and I were having a drink in the house. I had stocked up on pregnancy tests in preparation for trying to conceive in the New Year. I went for a drunken pee and saw the tests lying there, I decided to pee on one for a larrrf!

BANG POSITIVE!!! Could not believe it.... we'd only had sex once that month.... my period wasnt' even due for another 5 days!

Dd was born in August last year.

ok, here's the thing. I Don't want to plan it. Boyf wants to plan it because he's a planning demon!! ha ha.

I just wanted to check mostly on the "wearing off factor" which I now know there isnt really and whether there was anything I could do to prevent another miscarriage.

I didnt take folic acid last time as I didnt find out I was pregnant until I was 3 months gone. too late by then. Will take some this time. Will start pretty much now.

I dont know anything much about this pregnancy larff (yeh right) and just wanted to know anything and everything
