I have filled it in but if you don't use childcare, most of it is blank

I use childcare

my MIL

so don't pay anything and the rest was hogwash

would still like the hotel break thingy though so if my views will colour my chances, the survey is fabulous and eye-opening and will no doubt be extremely useful to all

Liked the 'do you use childcare because you would prefer not to look after kids 24/7.' If only ! Especially on a weekend night and not just so i can go out to work.

I hope I win it!! Most of my answers were blank though.

Seemed a rubbish survey to me, it asked how much we pay but didn't state over what period and although it said the questions where about childcare in general most only applied to nannies.

I filled it in although was amazed that of all the "why do you use childcare" questions, not ONE answer was "Because I WORK" !!! They were all about me time blah blah.

I work in data collection industry - feel I should be advising Gumtree how to draft questionnaires. The How much do you pay question is going to e meaningless becasue some people will fill it in per week and some per month!

Report
WideWebWitch · 04/04/2007 11:55

It is a rubbish questionnaire, not quite sure what it'll tell them really!

Report
oliveoil · 04/04/2007 11:56

no no no

it is a FABULOUS questionnaire and will be very very useful indeed

Report
suejonez · 04/04/2007 12:02

Should I win, I will of course give Gumtree free data collection advice

Christie - with the lure of a free weekend I ticked the "more time at work" box but did have a little giggle about the lack of a "becasue the bank manager threatens to take the house away if I don't earn enough to pay the mortgage" box.

Report
WideWebWitch · 04/04/2007 12:21

I know Christie, it really is most odd not to have "Because I WORK" as a reason for usinbg childcare

I've just done it - and can only agree with you all - a truly stupid survey !!

Report

It was a bit bizarre, I've used plenty of childcare but not the sorts they were asking about or for the reasons they put.

But I am determined to win a mumsnet competition sometime. Am currently diligently posting one listing per week on the Local mumsnet thing so I qualify every week for competition entry.

Bit stupid - like others have siad, how much do we pay,,, per hour, day, week, month? Also don't a lot of people use a nursery? And yes, we use childcare as we can't take the children into work. Still, hope I win

ThePrisoner · 05/04/2007 18:52

I didn't fill it in. There wasn't any box to tick which said that "I don't use childcare because my children are now grown-up."

I was tempted to make it all up and think about it in relation to my cats though.
