we went to the pre-school check at the hv 6 months ago and he was exactly 100cm and weighing 15.5 kg (no idea what that is in pounds).
yesterday I went to the weigh-in with baby and he wanted to sit on the scales as well. he was 14.5 kg. a teeny tiny bit will be winter vs sommer clothing, but I know it is quite a big loss for such a little person. I measured him at home and he is now 103 cm.
since baby arrived he has to walk everywhere or use the balance bike.
the hv asked us to come again in 4 weeks to see what the trend is.
should I worry? he is skinny but lively, he eats a varied diet, but often not a lot. should I give him vitamins?

That's only 2.2 pounds lost but his bmi is only 13.7 that's very low, if your son is generally healthy (his toilet habits are normal?) vitamins won't hurt if you don't think he gets enough nutrition from his food.
Are you or his dad skinny?
Weight fluctuates during a day so take him back next month and see, was the HV concerned? surely they would have asked to weigh him if they thought he was too skinny.

was it the same set of scales both times?

yes, same scales both times.
toilet habit normal as well.
I was a skinny child myself (not anymore), dh is quite slim.
hv said, if he does not gain anything in 4 weeks she will refer us to the gp.
