Is eating uncooked dried pasta bad for you?

Ds age 3 likes munching on uncooked dried pasta. Bit weird I think but it's only a little bit and certainly not everyday. I never really thought too much about it until I mentioned it to a friend today who said it wasn't a good idea and that it could give him food poisoning. Now I fail to see what could possibly be in dried pasta that could cause food poisoning??
Any thoughts?

Rice on the other hand I have heard can contain certain bacteria. Rice grown though isn't it where as pasta is a manmade food.

What do you think?

Small amounts of dried pasta are fine, might get dehydrated with too much.

I would have thought that dried pasta would expand in the stomach and be painful if too much consumed.

Uncooked fresh pasta would be more dnagerous.

that's an urban legend, Eccentrica

uncooked Dried pasta is fine, but it does expand in the stomach and you can become dehydrated so I would limit it to just a few pieces.

Thank you everyone. Ds has shown no ill effects from eating it but will continue to make sure it is only a handful.
