Am trying to decide if I should get baby to doc today. She is being sick after every feed, abiut 40 mins to an hour after. One big chuck of curdly looking milk. Also she has very red cheeks. She is sleeping ok but isn't really herself.

Been reading up on impetigo as dd1 has rash round her mouth and nose which isn't clearing with vaesline (thought it was just where she keeps licking it) so think she'll need to see doc tom. But just read on one thread about red cheeks too. Do you think baby has this too or something different? baby has no temp, nor has dd.

TIA.

Bump

Want to bump your message for you back onto active, as it sounds terrible. I can't help though, as I've never experienced this with my LO's.

What is the rash like? If it is crusting over yellow then weeping and spreading it sounds like impetigo. Is it like a coldsore/ herpes? Small dots underneath the skin which also heal yellowy brown and spreads v quickly.

Both viruses can make children feel really awful and can have symptoms of fever and vomiting and need treatment very quickly.

My DS (at 10 months) had suspected impetigo, rash was only around the mouth, with tiny spots on hands and feet, it turned out to be Hand Foot and Mouth disease. He wasn't eating, but he wasn't vomiting. If it is that, doesn't sound like what your baby has.
Sorry if that isn't much help, but I thought I would mention it as we spent a while thinking DS had impetigo until I caught it from him and we figured out what it really was (my mouth was very sore and my hands and feet went really itchy and sore)

TBH the last time DD got impetigo it surfaced itself with projectile vomiting then the rash. Hers turned into a more serious infection and she had to be hospitalised, not saying this will happen to you but it is and can be quite serious in children depending on what strain you have and how it responds to AB.

I hope you get the help form your GP that you need and they feel better soon.

thanks for bumping and the responses.

I took dd2 to see out of hours gp yesterday lunchtime and they said vomit was due to mucus build up. Got nose drops and its a bit better. DD1's rash however is still there and we're off to docs tom. I'll have dd2 with me too so will ask doc if she thinks any chnace of her having it too. I was quite pleased with nhs directs response to dd2 and speed of emergency appointment!
