Hi my 2 yr old has a terrible cough - been coughing all day with a slight fever (38.4), and he sounds really wheezy. does he need a docs? I thought I would wait until Monday to see how he is, but he really sounds bad. May be I should see if I could call the emergency docs tomorrow?? What would you do?

If you think he needs to see a Doctor (and you do, otherwise you wouldn't be posting on here), then yes.

Take him to A&E now - it'll be fairly quiet, and they'll make you a priority because he's young. They'd rather see a child who they can treat and send home than one they have to admit and who is seriously ill.

The really important signs to watch for is the soft part at the bottom of his throat and his between his ribs pulling in as he breathes/his lips/fingernail beds going blue or white/it looking like he is using his 'whole body' to breathe. If this happens, you need to get help immediately.
