I have often wondered if DS1 has dyspraxia

I ahve commented on it before to GP/School but no one seems to agree with me. However, ahving looked up the symptoms, I'm not sure.
He is very very clumsy. When out he is always tripping voer, walking into things but he does spend most of the time gawping over his shoulder when walking along. At home he spills food at every meal time, can't make himself a drink of any sort with out spilling it. he's very sort of "all arms and legs" but again, he's tall for his age, but seems to ahve no concept of things around him, he will launch himself onto me for a cuddle without seeming notceing the cup of cofee I ahve in my hand. He's also a very drapy child(for want of a better word) aways draping himself over me. He gets very wound up if things aren't going his way. He's anxious child - panics if I go to teh wheely bin and don't tell him.
I just don't know f its me over reacting and seeing something thats not there. he's 11

Frustrating isn't it? I think my ds has dyspraxia. School know nothing about dyspraxia and not much help. They have suggested he's dyslexic but he's not. (Am specialist SpLD teacher so usually know dyslexia when I see it) I've decided to pay for a private assessment. I'm thinking of O.T. as it should be cheaper than ed psych. I just want his school to take his difficulties seriously.

He sounds like my ds, saltire, whi has dyspraxia and is hypermobile. The "drapy" stuff he does is because he finds it hard staying upright all the time. All the things you say my ds does, especially throwing himself at me when I have a coffee in my hand. I now have a 6th sense of when he is about to do something like that and normally manage to head him off!

Go to the gp and ask to be referred. OT and physio can help alot.

Actually my ds drapes himself over me - how interesting.

The hypermobility is more of a problem than the dyspraxia. He has a problem with his core stability and long periods of sitting eg in assembly are very hard.
