What should I do?

DS(8) has just got back from school, and when I gave him a hug I noticed that he sounds quite wheezy. He also seems to have a 'ha-hum' sounding cough, and is doing that about every two minutes.
I have made a GP appointment, but couldn't get one until Wednesday.
Should I give him a puff of DD2's ventolin? He says that he started coughing after afternoon play, when he was running around.

Thanks for the reply, herbietea - GP is not there today - do you think he really should be seen now? And if so, nurse at the practise, A&E or NHS Walk In?

It's been about 10 minutes now, and the cough is no better, and perhaps slightly more frequent. He's also had a drink, and says it feels no better.
Therefore we're off to see the practise nurse. Wish me luck!
