I don't think its nits as I've used the nitty gritty comb and there's no sign. There's no dandruff or redness, she doesn't have eczema. For the last 2 weeks she is scratching so much its embarrasing. I'm sure people must think she's infested.

Any ideas what it might be, what I can do?

If there is no visible signs that you described then I would look at potential products you may have been using - shampoo, sun blocks if you've recently been on holiday etc. If you have been on holiday then has she been wearing a sun hat for long periods..?

To soothe her scalp then you can try rubbing aloe vera gel into her scalp...

The cause can be diet... Has she stopped eating a certain food recently - or started eating another..? It could be a deficiency of oils in her diet - if her scalp is very dry..

Hope it can be treated quickly - can't be much fun for her...

go to chemist and buy some Nizoral shampoo. Its specifiaclly for itchy scalps. It can be caused by dermatophytes( bugs) on the scalp which you cant see and the nizoral which has ketoconazole it will help. The other one is oilatum shampoo for itchy scalps but try nizoral first
