DS (age 7) has had what looked like a spot in his nose for a few days. He picked it on Monday and came screaming to me that he was having a nosebleed!! I was quite shocked about how much it bled and put Savlon on it. Took him to GP yesterday as it started looking oozy and was told that it was a bacterial infection and was prescribed Bactran nose ointment.
Last night (after seeing the GP) he got a temperature and has had one today (around 39c), not really wanted to eat and laid on the sofa all day which is very unlike him as he usually never ill. He keeps saying his head hurts (prob due to the temp and even after he has had ibuprofen) but does not have any other symptoms such as cough, runny nose etc that I would connect with a virus so I am worried that the temp may be to do with the infection. I am thinking that he may need antibiotics as the bacteria may have spread and am considering taking him to the walk in centre tonight as I am stressing about him getting bacteria in his bloodstream and septacemia (sic) etc. Am I being OTT??
