My nearly 5 month old DS has just thrown up all over himself and the furniture.

It was not like any sick he's ever done before.

It was sort of mucus-y and brownish yellow. He is not on solids yet and had a breast feed 3 hours ago.

He has only had breast milk today.

He seems quite upset.

Should I be worried?

It has taken the colour out of his green t-shirt

Sounds a bit like he's bringing up bile, but no expert. I'd ring NHS direct.

Thanks nigglewiggle. I've just inspected the bit on the chair and I think there's blood in it.

DH has just bathed him (and left me to clean up sick) and he seems ok in himself but not risking it.

Ringing NHS direct now (I'm on hold)

Trying not to panic.

Has he had a cough? I'd ring your out of hours GP rather than sit on hold to nhs direct if you're worried x

No cough. Just left all my details and waiting for nurse. On hold again.

If he seemed out of sorts I'd ring out of hours.

Nurse here...

Thank you nigglewiggle and anchovies for your kind posts.

I've spoken to the doctor now. She thinks he may have a cold and it is snot and blood from his nose going down the back of his throat which he's chucked up.

It does look like coldy snot mixed up with sick and blood (god I hope it is) and he seems ok in himself.

He doesn't have any cold symptoms though and he usually makes such a fuss if he has even a little bit of snot in his nose.

I'm keeping a close eye on him. He's sleeping now.

I'll post tomorrow how he is.

Thanks again ladies

Hope you have a good night.

Well he went to sleep about 9ish and then slept until almost 7 this morning! He normally only manages 6 hours a night. He then fed and slept until 9am.

He seems fine now other than a bit clingy. And he's skipped his morning nap but that's not surprising after his epic sleep.

I think he's ok. What a relief!

Thanks again
