Does anyone know if its ok to repeat a threadworm treatment on DD2 after 3 nights?

Gave DD2 thread worm treatment 3 nights ago.....no improvement. Don't bother her in the day but at night she is up the wall.

I have another dose in the house. The packet says consult the doctor before taking more, but I can't take her to the doctor tomorrow as its her first day at school. I really want to do the treatment now so that its in her system and hopefully she will get a better night's sleep.

Any advice appreciated.

Is this the type of thing NHS24 are happy to get a call about? Or would I end up on one of those crazy mother lists?

They have crazy mother lists?
Are you sure it's worms?

Have you read the instructions properly>Most specify a date after the first to dose again. I'd stick to it.

It says two weeks if they recur....this is more that I gave her the treatment 3 nights ago and she's still itching like mad.

She has had worms a few times before (I blame the nursery sandpit) but actually this time I couldn't see any. What else can it be? [daft mother]

She would normally respond to the dose immediately.

I've thrown away the original packet but I'm concerned it might have been out of date.....it wasn't a tablet it was a liquid which was to be used for all my children (we used it a while ago). There remained a single dose in the bottle so I gave her that 3 nights ago. Now I'm wondering if its not working because it was maybe out of date......

It can take up to a week or so to stop the symptoms, you should always take the second dose though after the fortnight is up.
Have you got any vaseline? If you smear some around your dd's anus it stops the buggers coming out and laying etc. This is generally what causes the most itching.

So, nice not too warm bath, then vaseline.

Metanium cream annihilates the worms. They die die die. laughs manically

You have my sympathies - it is horrible to see your kid so uncomfortable with them.
