3yr old ds has swine flu and ds2whos 8 months started getting poorley and yesterday had gp out and ds2 isl loud breathing and a cough.Chest is clear. Today he is very hoarse, awful cough and when he breathes in deeply he makes a real strain noise in his throat which obviously hurts him. He was put on the baby tamiflu yesterday more of a precaution i think (he has other health probs) i dont want to call doctor out necessarily but wondering if tonnsilitus could be possible? How would you know or ami clutching at straws?

Doesn't sound like tonsillitus. Croup? I'm sure someone will know more thna me, but tonsillitus won't give you a cough, or noisy breathing. Feel either side of his neck- if it's tonsillitus you wil be able to feel two big lumps

I came to recognise a smell when my dd had tonsilitis. She had it an awful lot and it smelt like boiled cabbage if I smelt her breath

poor little thing, 8 months is still so small. I think in your shoes I might call the doctor again. Sorry he wasn't very helpful last time. It's so worrying when babies are ill

It could be croup if his chest goes in when he cries.

This is actually lartyngitis and usually is worst at night, when the swelling narrows the airways.

Tell the doc about the chest thing.

Chicken pox can often be followed by a chest infection as well. Glad you're getting it checked out.
