suspected hand foot and mouth; is there any point going to the doctors?

DD, 2 has been a bit off for a few days, temperature, not eating or sleeping and complaining of sore armpits. I noticed a couple of blisters on her big toes yesterday but thought it might have been her shoes rubbing as she isn't wearing socks at the minute.

DS2, 8 mo has had a really bad night, temperature, not feeding and letting out a really plaintive whine. he started screaming when I tried to get him to feed.

This morning I've noticed a few more blisters on DD's feet and lots more just red flat rash as if they are coming up. she had one or two similar looking spots on the heel of her hand and one blister on the end of her tongue. They aren't as soft as a normal blister though.

the thought of having to get two poorly children to the docs to be told my suspicions are correct, given I only had about three hours sleep last night in this heat is leaving me with a sense of dread.

Is there anything they can do or give me or is it a calpol and grin and bear it job? Are they likely to get much more ill than this? DS2 is pretty miserable though and that wee whine that is just breaking my heart

Calpol will help, use calomine lotion on my 2 when they've had it to stop the itching (once they notice) and you're better off giving them plenty of water, ice cream any they don't have to chew or that would hurt when swallowing. I think the sore throat makes them feel worst.

Thanks

It seems like a very mild case of it for DD as she only has a few blisters and the rest are flat red spots and they seem to have even gone down a bit since this morning. I made an appointment at the GP but am now worried about wasting their time!!
