My DS (age 5) has chicken pox but dd (3)showing no symptoms of it - obviously DS is off school but his dad is off work on Wednesday - Should or shouldn't I take dd to her toddler group?- What would you do?

I think that as it is toddler group, and therefore a number of pg women likely to be there, I wouldn't go jic

Don't.

When my dd had chicken pox I kept her brother off nursery as well, until the incubation period was over. The nursery didn't ask me to do this, but thanked me for doing so - especially as ds came down with chicken pox the day before I intended returning them both to nursery.

When did your ds come out in spots? He'll have been contagious from about 2 days before the spots appeared until they all heal over and the incubation period is 10 to 21 days until symptoms show so there is a good chance she is still incubating it.

If wednesday is more than 8 days since ds came out with it then I wouldn't as she could be infectious.

I'm waiting for DS3 to come down with it as DS2 is just getting over it and I've cancelled all public stuff until the incubation period is over. I'm sure most people won't mind if their kids are exposed but I do know people for whom their kids getting it would be very worrying. When I talked about it they didn't seem in a rush for me to get out and about with DS3. Having said that, I do take him in the buggy to the supermarket but don't let him run around.

am I the only one to be quite disappointed my ds didn't catch it at nursery ? Am pg (immune) & would far rather he caught it now than when we have a newborn in the house.

however I know not all parents share my attitude so I;d prob be inclined to give the toddler grp a miss till you can tell if dd is coming down with it..

Thanks all. I think I'll give it a miss. I've just remembered there is one pg mum there.
