does it normally stick out like that?

can't remember what dd's looked like but it was an obvious lump rather than just skin iyswim (though it wasn't big)

Hang on, didn't your cat have a pink bit sticking out of its bottom? What are you doing to them!!??

I think tummy button hernias only happen to babies, and would prob look bigger than what yu describe.

Could he have been picking at it, and maybe rearranged the skin folding iykwim?

It would be more of a large bulge than a blob of skin.

DBro had one as a baby. He had it operated on and now has no tummy button at all. He likes to tell folk that he hatched.

perhaps it's going to be a spot?

or some fungal thing (good place for that, belly button)

MadamAnt Fri 26-Sep-08 20:49:08

Does it look sore? Does he have an outie or an inny usually?

I think it's fine, and has just been poked too much.

Give him a disprin gargle and a tubigrip. Come back in a week if it's no better.

I think umbilical hernias can happen at any age, but it would be a fully-fledged bulge from within, IYSWIM.
