What does this rash look like?

On my child's back and coming around to the stomach. Waiting on call back from the docs. Do you think it looks like shingles? Can children get that?

Children can get singles if they have previously had chicken pox.

IT does look a bit like shingles. Is it painful?

Hi, it's a bit painful she says. She couldn't lay on her back last night and it's a bit itchy. But not overly so. I also thought impetigo, but it doesn't really look too much like that. She has smaller patches going around her torso onto her stomach.

Shingles follow a single nerve, so if all the patches are on the same line, it makes shingles more likely.

As above, also shingles never crosses the midline so if on different sides of the body should be ruled out.

Maybe Molluscom contagiosum? It’s been a long time since my daughter had them but just something else to consider

It's on one side. On her lower back and going around her torso to the tummy.

Thank you all. My first thought was shingles. I sent photos as requested to the doctors this morning, so just waiting to hear back now.

I'd say shingles (nurse here).

Thank you. The doctor saw the photos and has asked her to go in at 2pm so he can have a proper look. She's not poorly in herself, so that's good.
