Baby acne?

My 3 week old daughter has quite bad skin - it looks red and spotty and has done for around 2 weeks now. She has Milia (the milk spots) on her nose, which doesn't concern me, but I've never seen a baby with such spotty skin before! They don't seem to be causing her any discomfort.
It seems to flare up sometimes, although I can't really find a pattern of anything that would cause it. I'm thinking possibly her milk? I've looked on Google at all sorts of rashes etc and I think it looks like baby acne.
I'm just wondering if there's anything I can put on it to make it better? I've just been trying to keep it clean with cooled boiled water but it's not made a difference. I'm also concerned that maybe I am missing something, like it's a sign or symptom of something worse. I'm finding it difficult not having the usual aftercare for new mums, as in normal circumstances I would just run it by the midwife.
