My 10 year on DS is having surgery tomorrow to remove Cholesteatoma from his ear. He is as expected very anxious, and im in a right pickle tbh Sad. Its eroded his middle ear bones, but we wont know to what degree, till after the surgery, but some if not all will be removed. We are hopeful that the surgeon will be able to reconstruct the bones, but this depends on the extent of disease. At this stage priority is to get rid of the disease, not preserving hearing.

Anyone have any experience?

No experience of this McFarts but hope the surgery goes well and that DS has good recovery.
If you Google “ Cholesteatoma Mumsnet “ you will see other threads on it and I see there are several Facebook support groups for it including one for parents of children with it.
